Guest guest
Dear Dr JM could you inform us if you developed an opinion on Dr Boris experiment with ACTOS?I realize its too soon to tell but at least tell us if the drug is " safe " for a trial. Guest guest
I have spoken at length to Alan Goldblatt, who is conducting a study of 80 children, and he is reporting very good results. Actos though designed for lowering insulin resistance, works as an immune modulator and helps push T2 (auto-immune reactions) to T1 (attacking viruses, fungi, and bacteria). I gave it to Chelsey, my little guinea pig, and have not seen anything except an intense hunger so far, and her mom, who has fibromyalgia, was made very nauseated on it, but she is quite sensitive. One other child seemed to get better at first but then started having a lot of irritability and whining, and as soon as his mother took him off it, he got happy again. So my limited use so far is not too glowing, but I can certainly come to no conclusions yet. I don't think I want to prescribe it anymore until Alan's studies are completed. We will be asking Alan for an update at the October DAN!, and by then or hopefully sooner I think the criteria will be in place to know which kids it should be used for. I believe glucose levels have to be watched carefully if the kids are small or underweight; I'm not sure about the bigger or heavier kids. I'll report when I know more.
