Guest guest
Hi everyone! I've been on various antidepressants over the past 10 years, but had been taking 20 mg Celexa for the past two along with Klonopin at night. Two weeks ago I stopped the Celexa (actually forgot to take it for two days, then decided not to take it any longer)and the withdrawals hit me after about 5 days - - nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, feeling like a space cadet. I have also cut my Klonopin dose in half to 1/2 mg. and will eventually stop that too. I know I should have gradually weaned off the Celexa, but oh well, too late now. What I would really like to know is - - when will the dizziness subside and when will I get my brain back??? Thanks for any help.
Guest guest
Hi Barbie (please tell us what you'd like to be called), You said: <<What I would really like to know is - - when will the dizziness subside and when will I get my brain back??? >> ***You may not ever get your brain back, if you don't go back on the Celexa and taper it slowly. There are people on this list who can tell you what abrupt withdrawal can do to you. The Klonopin reduction is probably okay, but don't reduce it any further until you've dealt with the Celexa. If I were you, I would go back on at least a half dose of Celexa and let my body stabilize. When I started feeling okay, I would start withdrawal by making no more than a 10% reduction in dose at a time. I would not make a second reduction until I felt like my body had stabilized from the first one. This process is all about caution and listening to your body. I would also read the Basic Healing Protocol (in the Files--click on this link to get to the Files: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Withdrawal_and_Recovery/files/, then click on Basic Healing Protocol). Start yourself on a healthy diet (there have been several posts about this recently), and start using the supplements recommended in the BHP (Basic Healing Protocol). These things will support your body and optimize your recovery. Take some time to look at the Files and the archives. There is a ton of information here about withdrawal and recovery, and our members offer understanding and well-informed support. Keep us posted! Guest guest
Hi Barbara, <<There is no way I'm going back to taking Celexa, even at a reduced dose. It's been 2 1/2 weeks now and every day I'm feeling better. The dizziness and nausea are virtually gone. The only symptom I have now is my brain is not functioning at its peak level - - kind of like I'm in a fog. I'm sure with time that will improve also. I've read a lot of the info in the files. >> ***I'm glad you're feeling better. The brain fog will probably take a while to clear up, as I'm sure you've read in the files. Nutritional support will help your body recover. I wish you all the best in your recovery! Warmly, Kim
