Hi Sally,

You said:

***Just shows you how much doctors know! I'm

glad you're doing so well. Congrats on

getting off the Paxil and Prozac.

<<I would like to reduce the clomipramine

further now and wondered if I

can do this across a week (so rather than

reducing by 5mg every day,

reduce by say 10mg one day a week, then 2

days the next week and so

on.) I know some people do this with prozac

because of the long half

life but wasnt sure if it would be ok with

clomip.>>

***I want to be clear on what you mean by

this plan. Are you thinking about cutting

your dose by 10 mg on just one day, then

taking the regular dose for six days, to be

followed by reducing on two days/regular dose

for five? I don't want to comment on this

until I'm sure.

<<Im taking 2000mg fish oil and a good

quality mv & mineral each day.>>

***Great! It looks like they're making a

difference.

Yes - this is exactly what I was suggesting.

***This scheme is nuts, plain and simple. I

don't care what the half-life of the drug is

(and no matter what they say, it's different

in different people because our rate of

metabolism depends on our enzymes). This

stop-and-go withdrawal will just jerk your

brain and body around and around.

gives good advice on this (as

always). Cut by no more than 5 mg at a time.

Don't worry about the calendar--listen to

your body. When you feel adjusted to the

first change, go ahead and make the next 5 mg

drop.

A slow, cautious, mindful withdrawal will

greatly increase your chances for solid

long-term recovery.

Regards,

Kim
