Hi everyone,

Thanks for posting your introductions, even though it breaks my heart to

read them.

Since my RSD started with knee problems/surgery, I can relate to those

of you with a similar problem.

, I just read your intro, and may I share this information with you

in the hopes that it will prevent you from going through some of the

same problems I have encountered?

I had an MRI two weeks ago also, and it shows that my cartilage is also

damaged, as well as the patella is not tracking correctly. This is a

new OS to me, my pain doc referred me, and I really like this doctor.

He told me things that no OS has ever told me, namely, that with the

damage to the cartilage under my patella, I should NEVER sit with my

foot on the floor, it pushes the patella against the femur bone and

causes pain and more problems.

We also discussed the PT that I had in the past, and he told me this was

all done INCORRECTLY, they should never have put me through

exercises/machines that bent my leg. I told him that the previous OS's

just wrote a script for PT that said, " Evaluate and treat. " He said he

has never written a script for PT like that in his life, and if any

doctor does that, he does not really care about the patient.

I will be starting PT (Again!) next week, but this time with a very

specific script, he spelled out what he wants them to do/not do. He

referred me to a particular LPT who he said is very well trained in

these problems. He also discussed lateral release surgery, but said it

is unsuccessful for the most part, and he does not feel this would help

me, could make matters worse. I really respect this doctor, I can't say

that about most I have seen, as he could have tried to talk me into

surgery.

If anyone has knee problems and would like to know what specific therapy

I will be getting next week, just let me know and I will be happy to

share any info with you.

I'm going to check my reverse dictionary for other words instead of

" sorry. " I was going to use it here a couple of times, but I really

don't want any " points " against me right off the bat, so I left it

out....<G>

Take care, stay warm,

Hugs, JoAnn
