Hi ,

I feel bad this is an added bother you do not need. I did experience this,

but only during the time I was receiving nerve blocks.

I don't think you have had any recent blocks, have you?

I found that when they increased my neurontin I was better also.

Maybe you need to see a neurologist, but don't let them do that awful needle

test, an EEG?

Hugs,

Deb

Hi !

Your leg shakes sound like something that happens to me, but only when I'm

really, really tired. It seems I can't control my muscles in my legs. I had

thought that was due to the atrophy, etc. I experienced. If your muscles are

starting to atrophy, you need to start an exercise regimen to keep the

muscles strong or see a Physical therapist to help you. I still, after four

years, do my quadriceps exercises, and my Dr. still tells me they're weak!

It seems I don't do as much as I should because it hurts. Ask your neuro

tomorrow.

I'm praying that your Dad makes it through the move. Please let others help

as much as they can. Take a few moments for yourself. You need to do that!

I'm at work, and need to get some work done. I'll talk to you later.

Hugs to you!

Jo

Hi Tracey!

Funny, but knee doesn't track properly, either, I had a piece removed and it

is never right. I double brace it, which helps keeps the kneecap in place.

Taping also helps some people, I couldn't stand the tape on my knee, though

with they hypersensitivity. I went through p/t for months, no help. There

are quad strengthening exercises that help keep the muscles, and they aren't

toooo painful. If you need them, I can scan copies (I think I can find them)

and email them.

Let me know if I can help!

Hugs!

Jo, ,

I get those muscle spams too. The night before last my leg went into

one heck of a convulsion. It was scary. Herb tells me this has been

happening alot in my sleep.

I've been trying to do some simple leg lifts but it's hard to do too

much because my knee is so messed up. The patella is off track and my knee

slips alot and it hurts when it snaps back in.

Last night my whole leg just gave out on me. It just crumbled under me.

The dr. had given me Vioxx for the inflammation in the knee but I got

terrible side effects with it including a severe pain in my abdomen. I'm

wondering if I should try my stationary bike again.

Tried therapy in the summer but it only made the RSD worse. Any

suggestions?

Hi Tracey,

I think that we, the leg spasm gang, need to just take it slow, and maybe try

the bike when this flare up goes. I am fixing my bike for outside now the

weather is nice, but I can't and wont go more than less for one-eighth of a

mile.

That's what I think.

Deb

Deb,

I use a recumbent exercycle everyday. Most days between 2 1/2 to 3 hours a

day. Of course I break it up into small increments. Since I don't sleep I

am usually starting at 5 am.

RSD RULES OF ETIQUETTE

PERSONAL HYGIENE

1. Decisions about which body part to wash depend on which doctor you're

seeing today, i.e., face/ears for the ENT; feet for the podiatrist; arms

for blood tests; etc...

2. Proper use of toiletries can forestall bathing for several days.

However, if you live alone, deodorant is a waste of good money.

3. Read labels carefully. Ever notice how much the can of room freshener

resembles the can of deodorant?

4. Remember to warn your spouse before kissing if you've just taken your

herbal remedies, since your breath now smells like grass.

IN THE KITCHEN

1. If you can't remember what it is you're cooking in the pot, whatever it

is, it can

probably use more salt.

2. Do not toss that cold cup of coffee into the dryer or set the iron in the

refrigerator to cool off, no matter how good an idea it may seem at the

time.

3. When your husband tells you " Don't worry about dinner, just throw some

frozen

chicken in the oven and forget it " , DON'T forget it.

4. When everything INCLUDING the can opener is dirty, it may be time to wash

some dishes.

5. It's bad manners to fall asleep at the table, especially in the food.

6. If you're having a bad day, there's nothing better than pizza and quiet.

DRIVING ETIQUETTE

1. Always place a Post-It Note on the dashboard telling you where you're

going.

And when you get there, place another on the dashboard that says HOME.

2. Never relieve yourself from a moving vehicle, especially when driving.

3. Always carry an electronic homing device in your car and with you so you

can find your car in the parking lot.

TIPS FOR ALL OCCASIONS

1. If you have to vacuum the bed, it's time to change the sheets.

2. If you take the dog for a walk, make sure he brings you back.

3. Never mind about taking one day at a time. Just stick to one thing at a

time.

4. Try to spend at least 45 minutes each morning doing one get-up.

5. Work at learning something new every day, like sitting up, for example...

6. Remember to breathe when napping. It's unnerving to wake up and see

vultures staring at you.

7. Learn to understand your " body language " :

Joints - " I ache! It's going to rain! "

Stomach - " You're getting me upset! "

Nose - " Oh, oh, I'm getting a cold! "

Head - " Stop it, all of you! I'm getting a migraine! "

Jo this is an e-mail i received a long time ago im not sure if u want

to post it or what food for thought i guess

Jo,

Yes, if you can find them please email them to me. I am really not sure

what to do with this darn leg.

Feeling a little better today. But, can't go sit outside in the sun

because there is none today. It's pouring rain which will undoubtedly bring

me more pain. The cold weather is back here. I think I will try and

comfortable and catch up on some letters I need to write.

I know you and Deb may not make the chat room. I'll go in and see if

anyone is there later.

Have a great day.

Hugs, Tracey

Deb,

I am going to try my statioinary bike again. But, I have to be careful

because of my knee being off track. I sure do miss being able to excersise.

I had a whole exercising room downstairs!

Hey Tracey!

I'll take a look through my medical stuff tonight (it's Sunday, already!!!)

and try and scan and send tomorrow (the quad exercises). I'll make a file if

I can at the web site.

Hope to be at chat tonight, but I'm running dangerously low on power at this

point. Lots of pain, etc. due to weather, etc. didn't get much sleep.

Hugs!

Jo,

I didn't make chat last night. Was in too much pain and very tired.

Not sleeping well at all. But I'll be there tonight. Hope you can make it,

if not maybe we'll chat tomorrow.

Sounds like you need to get some rest. Herb says to tell you while at

the store the other day he found a chocolate lover's cookbook. He wanted me

to send it to you but I didn't have the address!!!! Herb says chocolate

gives a boost!!!

Okay, maybe we'll talk later. Take care and rest!

Hugs. Tracey
