Re:coming off clomipramine (Cutting down capsules rather than tablets)

Thanks Kim for the advice!! Definately wont go that way.

I just wondered if anyone can give advice on cutting down on

capsules. (rather than just shaving up tablets.)

Clomipramine comes in 10mg/25mg and 50mg capsules. At minute I take

1x 50mg a day.

So to reduce to 45mg I could take 1x 25mg and 2x 10mg.

But then to cut down to say 40mg I'd need 1x 25mg , 1x 10mg plus an

extra 5mg. Is possible / advisable to split a capsule contents in

some way?

** As long as it's not an extended release-type drug you can dissolve the

capsule in liquid (sometimes water will do while other times something with

carbonation is needed to dissolve it). Shake well and then drink the

appropriate amount. You can titrate the dose as small as necessary this

way.
