Guest guest
Caroline I think the drug you refer to might be Dosulepin - the new name for Dothiepin. Tricyclic antidepressant, also sometimes prescribed in smaller amounts nocte for insomnia. I expect BNF.org will have the details. Helen Duxbxury Flushes vs insomnia Recently saw a new patient suffering from hot flushes following HRT w/drawal 4 years ago. Aged 58 with a stressful home life, she has a good diet but unfortunately is a heavy smoker and a little overweight. She is prone to insomnia but manages this with Horlicks laced with rum! Rx: sinensis Verbena off Leonurus cardiace Verbena officinalis Carduus marianus Borago officinalis Tarax rad After only 2 days on this mix she reports reduction in frequency of flushes (so soon I wondered about placebo effect) but has had 2 sleepless nights. Could sinensis be too stimulating ? I can't think that any of the other herbs are. Another problem with this lady. She is taking a drug which I cannot find in the books. I've asked her to bring the bottle next time because I think she must be misspelling and mispronouncing it. Dithiapine/Disolupene ? Thought to be anti-depressant. Has anyone come across this?
