Guest guest
Ray, thanks for this message. We dropped my Effexor dosage because I was doing well, and looking back, I realize that's when the pain got worse. I never connected it. I'm going to ask my new pdoc about increasing it. I take Effexor XR, which I think is extended release. It doesn't make me sleepy at all, but I'm weird! ----- Original Message ----- From: HRayN Effexor is a great antidepressant with dual-acting properties that are especially beneficial to those living with chronic pain. Guest guest
Hmmm. Sounds interesting. Might have to mention it to the doc & do some research myself. Thanks ladies! BsomeSent from my iPhone I tried Zoloft for awhile. It really helped my sound sensitivity, but it caused insomnia so I had to stop taking it. I noticed when I was on it that I felt really good and didn't really notice my sound sensitivity at all. Antidepressants are also good for anxiety, too, not just depression. Unfortunately, it caused me such insomnia that I had to stop taking it, and I was very sad that I had to stop because I really felt so very good on it. Now I have Xanax, which is shorter acting, but it's okay, but not as good as the Zoloft was. Subject: EffexorTo: Soundsensitivity Date: Tuesday, March 15, 2011, 11:46 AM Hi All, I know a great number of you have tried anti-depressants but just thought I'd give an update that might help someone. I know they affect everyone differently but....I've been on a few different meds for this issue and the anxiety it causes...prozac, zoloft, and when I was a child an adhd med that made me so ill I couldn't eat (it wasn't adhd!). My doc recently put me on effexor for anxiety. I know there are a lot of horror stories about coming off of effexor but I have to say it has made a HUGE difference in my sound sensitivity and is the ONLY thing that ever has. I have been so much calmer in these situations and half the time things that would drive me NUTS have not even been noticable. At this point it's made such a difference that I don't really care what kind of hell it's going to be coming off it someday. | am not saying that it's magically fixed my sound sensitivity..It is still occuring, just not as often and not as intense. I have historically been against going on another anti depressant as I have always felt that I am not "depressed" just anxious. Of course meds are different for everyone so I'm not making a recommendation... just personal anecdote. -
Guest guest
Hey all, I am currently in the middle of a Home and School meeting and the secretary this year takes notes on a computer and I want to smash it. I was on Effexor for 8 years and I am one of the peopLe who had the horror stories trying to get off of it and issues while on it, too. I think that it is so great that this has made such a difference in your sound sensitivities. Can I ask you how many miligrams you take daily it is so hard to find the right dose. I felt high most of the time I was on it and doctors made various adjustments throughtout the years. I really want to go back on some sort of medication but I think I forget about the many side effects I had when I was on them. Although your post makes me want to run back to the doctor and ask for a perscription again! Well I best be finishing up this " bathroom break " . People will think that I've died in here. Ha ha! To much information alert! > > Hi All, > I know a great number of you have tried anti-depressants but just thought I'd give an update that might help someone.
