Guest guest
Has anyone ever had this thought? How ironic is the expression " suffering in silence " to people with misophonia???
Guest guest
I think it's ironic (don't know if you're alluding to this) that people with noise sensetivity do best with more noise to cover up their " selected " noises. I suffer most when the environment is the quietest, so that all the little sudden noises are audible.
Guest guest
I have the same problem with being in a very quiet environment. My house is deathly quiet all the time. The opposite problem of what many here have been talking about. You can hear and ant breath! And I can hear every sound, however minute, that my wife makes. So that it a problem at times. I have all "quiet" clocks on the walls. My wife is an sweetheart about it and I adore her, so I make it work. Mike L. Guest guest
For me this is so true and happened just yesterday. My son was having chips for an after school snack while watching TV. Suddenly there were no sounds coming from the TV and I was like " What happened to the TV? Who turned it off?". He had paused it for a minute. It was only because i was in a room next to where he was and the sound of the TV blocked the sounds of him eating the chips. I feel so bad because after school my middle school children (3 of them) come home so hungry and are snacking. It is the first time I see them all day and I have to distance myself while they eat because the noise drives me crazy. They know why and I tell them I just want them to enjoy their snacks...I also left the room last night while they were having a lollipop. The noise was driving me crazy. Funny thing is one of them followed me into the other room. He did not know why I went in the other room and just wanted to hand out with me. There are many times when I just have myself try my best to ignore the sounds the best I can because my family really are not doing anything wrong. Guest guest
Oh, I can so relate to this. I actually have put on weight eating at the same time other people in the family are eating just to cover up the noise if I can't remove myself from the situation. My poor son has to put up with me not being able to handle his soft, whisper like talk at times, his chewing... and Oh my gosh!... he's developed this thing where he licks his lips because they're dry. I keep telling him to put on chap stick for heaven's sake but he won't don't it. He doesn't like the feeling of it. My husband is the most rambunctious eater. OH MY GOSH AND GOLLY!!! AHHHH!!! I've gained a lot of weight since married to him so I can cover up those sounds. Now I am starting to take my food alone or while watching TV or running a fan (loudly) or going upstairs to be alone. I hate that Misophonia does this. > > For me this is so true and happened just yesterday. My son was having chips for an after school snack while watching TV.
