Hi - just to reassure you - you're in good company. There are many

of us here who are just " winging it " . That is to say we found a doctor who

was not experienced in AP but who was willing to write the prescriptions

for us. There's certainly enough information on the website and through

this forum to guide you along. Judy (deejay) son, Wa scleroderma

10+ years AP 2 yrs+2 mo.

Hi arjay,

Fifteen months ago my doc and I just " winged it too " . I did not take the

metho tho. Your doing good. Just keep tuned to this site and you will

learn all the rest. Last year my hubby and I found this web site and

they were having problems with people fighting and we never came back

till this fall. I wish we would have stayed and not got scared away. I

had no one to ask questions and we really muddled a lot. Stick with the

AP and stick with this web site.

Hi Cooky - we don't " Really " fight - just have some heated

discussions....and they don't last very long and then we agree to disagree,

everyone kisses and makes up and we're off to new and better things.

Unless you are talking about the ongoing battle with the lady doc

rheumatologist......funny thing...she was such a thorn in the side and

right now I can't even think of her name . I guess that lethologica for

you!!!!! Anyway, cooky, we're glad you came back. Judy

Would that be Dr. Hoch who stated on the a.s.a. list that the

minocycline study on the eleven scleraderma patients resulted in two of them

dying from the minocycline? She never has clarified her inability to read

the English language medical abstract? Dr. Chiu called her on it but so far

her only response has been, " Sticks and stones will break my bones but names

will never harm me. " ROFL

We are truly like a big family, with our discussions, disagreements and

arguments, yes, but also with the unconditional love and support that you can

only count on from a family! And the love and support always outweighs and

outlasts those discussions :-)

Anything else to look out for with the oral Clindamycin? Other medications /

foods we should not take with it? Empty stomach or with food, avoid calcium,

etc.????

Thanks Chris!

There are two other Rheumy in that office that when I asked about AP I was

told on the way out by the Secretary that Dr xxx

Not Ms. Sticks and stones I was requested to find another

rheumatologist . Can you believe that!!! I still see red when I think about

those Bozos in the office . I also know of 6 people that have come away from

that archaic pit either like mad as hell,

or crying. Please God send Spokane a compassionate ,

caring, intelligent rheumatologist as of now there are NONE.

In Seattle and Portland where I have lived 30 years between the two, because

of the research facilities and population there

are good Rheumy. I can also warn you in this part of the country that MD.

Kenney a rheumy mis-diagnosed me when I had

a double Achilles tendon tear. He told me it was just the indent

from my tennis shoes . I was wearing tie up boots for support!!!

Now I will always limp on my left foot as the surgeon had to go 1/2

up my calf to retract my tendon and patch it back together.

QUACK Yes the duck doctor. so when you go to a rheumy in Spokane you take

your life in you hands .

I suggest , that there are two MD's and a neurologist here that

are good doc's Still seeing red Root

You're right. Minocycline is 100-200mg Mon Wed and Fri, doxycycline is

the same as minocycline. Erythromycin is 500-600mg MWF and tetracycline

is 250-500mg twice daily MWF. Clindamycin is 1200mg in a single dose,

once a week, on a day you're not taking the other antibiotic. Clindamycin

can't be taken with erythromycin.

Chris.
