Hi

I am a member of this list and read much of what is posted, but I

don't contribute often.

Sometimes it is discouraging to read the sheer number of people who

have had problems with sick buildings; yet, nothing seems to draw

attention to our problems and have serious action taken to prevent

future incidents.

I thought I'd share with you information about a new groups that

I just started.

Seeking Healthier Alternatives, Resources, Education FAQ (SHARE-FAQ)

is its name. This isn't a discussion group. Compilations and

summaries of information will be posted in newsletter format - an

organized archives.

This is a way to share materials about many of the common topics on

discussion lists. The information has been accumulated from years of

sharing with the mcs community, Internet research, library materials,

vendors, and support groups. SHARE-FAQ will cover a wide range of

issues including health, home, lifestyle, treatments, self-help,

support, resources, etc. I have spent over 100 hours on the items

posted at this point.

This list was started because I saw a need for people to have access

to all the great information that is being discussed and shared about

chronic illnesses, allergies, and sensitivities. I belong to several

discussion groups where people come and go and the questions/topics

are repeated. Archives of lists are cumbersome or not available.

Hopefully this will help everybody in the search for better health

and/or less toxic alternatives.

I have chosen to post the information in a newsletter format on

groups because it will be easy to access as individual emails,

digest form, or from the web. Each item posted on SHARE-FAQ is just

a summary and cannot be discussed. If you want more information, ask

questions, or talk with others – one of the discussion groups would

be the appropriate place to pose your questions. There are many,

many groups available. Some of the larger, more active groups

include ALLERGY, CHEMICAL-ILLNET, IMMUNE, MCS-CI-EXILE,

SICKBUILDINGS. Check the lists of discussion groups to find ones

that meet your specific needs.

Hopefully SHARE-FAQ can be a knowledge base and will be a good

starting place to seek answers to questions. More indepth discussion

and ideas can then be generated on the individual discussion lists,

while repetition of the same stuff can be reduced.

Some of the items I'm considering for future postings include: air

cleaners, masks, relocating, personal care products, cosmetics, hair

products, mcs businesses, gm products, pesticides, IAQ in schools,

alternatives to pesticides, and the list goes on.

I didn't announce this group until I posted some of the large

categories of information – books and discussion groups. There are

48 documents already posted so your mailbox won't be filled up with

these lists if you do select the individual email option. Additional

items will be posted as they are finished – my goal is 4-6 a month.

If someone would like to help with a topic, please let me know. I'd

appreciate the help. Many of you have areas of special interest and

expertise and might like to contribute to this database. Also, if

there are certain topics you'd like to see next, please let me know.

Once you are subscribed, the best way to see what I did is to read:

message #1 welcome

message #2 thank you

message #3 introduction to book lists and

message # 30 introduction to discussion lists

I learned something when I posted each category – they were posted

and approved in alphabetical order with the introduction first!!!
