Guest guest
Can anyone give me information about Wintergreen Oil? Wintergreen essential oil was traditionally used as a topical analgesic. I use the past tense because the plant that produces it grows only in Nepal and is highly endangered, hence true wintergreen oil is exceedingly rare. Any so-called wintergreen essential oil available for purchase is most likely to be pure synthetic methyl salicylate. It should never be used neat on the skin and has a fairly high potential for dermal irritation even when diluted. I would avoid using wintergreen; anyone formulating products with this " oil " has a basic lack of knowledge regarding aromatherapy, and their product quality should be regarded as suspect.
