- Thanks for the encouragement!

Marty - Thanks for the encouragement and the prayers.

Susie - I am looking forward to hearing about your visit with Dr. Cush. Hope you

were given some answers.

Well the liver biopsy went well. The anticipation was worse than the actual

procedure. It actually only took like one or two seconds. I have been just a

little sore, but doing great. Now it is just the waiting on the results. The

doctor said they should probably be back around Tuesday. So we will see. I

didn't receive any Versed so I remember everything, but they did give me 10 mg

of Valium to knock the edge off and a little local lidocaine at the site. I am

just thankful it didn't take any longer than it did. At about the time you

realize how bad it is hurting it is over. It is sooooo quick. I do thank you all

for so much encouragement. I don't know what I would do without you all. I will

let you all know what it shows.

Thanks,

[sPAM] Re: liver biopsy tomorrow

Good luck tomorrow. I've had 2 liver biopsies and they really aren't so bad.

It's just a needle guided with imagery, takes less than a minute for the actual

procedure. I wasn't kept in the hospital either time I had a liver biopsy. But

it was pretty painless with very little after pain. I think I was sicker from

the Versed than anything else. (For those that don't know, Versed is a drug that

the docs give with procedures theoretically for pain, but really it only causes

amnesia so they're less likely to get sued and the OR staff can say whatever

they want without worrying that the patient will remember it.)

But the important part of this message is that it's not a bad procedure and it

will give the docs a clear pix of what's going on in your liver. Unfortunately,

LFTs only go so far to tell you what's going on in the liver. In the " olden

days " if you were on MTX more than 5 years, you HAD to have a liver biopsy. Not

so any more so not as many people need them.

Good luck tomorrow, you'll get through it like the champ we know you are!
