Guest guest
I'm not sure if this is off-topic or not, but I thought I'd post it anyway. Even though I'm an atheist, one of the rules I try to live by is the one that predates Jesus Christ's expression of it in the New Testament: treat others the way you want them to treat you. It's called The Golden Rule for a very good reason: it works, big time. One of the random thoughts among the junk that usually flits in and out of my head is, what if I turned that Rule around? I did just that, and it became: Treat myself the way I want others to treat me. That is, treat myself with kindness, compassion, tolerance, understanding and, above all, understanding. One of the main benefits of ACT is that it encourages us to do just that. We're all the result of our genes, our upbringing, our experiences, and the world we live in. I like pithy phrases that I can easily remember when I'm feeling bad, and this one, for me at least, helps me regain a sense of balance and perspective.
