Guest guest
Hi Katy, I wanted to share for you and others that in my first year of onset my jaw was very inflamed on several occasions. I could not open it enough to eat at those times or chew. It acted like other joints though and did go away and lucky enough didn't reoccur so I wasn't left with any degenerative damage. I'm sorry you have been. I've had three total joint replacements, two while being on Naproxen and the medication Penicillamine. I chose epidurals for anesthesia, don't know if that makes any difference, just a personal choice and the third just on Naproxen. All three surgeries for me were very successful without complications, healed within the expected time frame, and are strong and good today. Both hips were done in 1984 & knee in 1999. I do know that when I fractured my ankle this last October the Orthopedic doctors consulted about surgery and said no and gave reasons because of my arthritis and because I am a smoker but now they are discussing a joint replacement of my thumb joint and work on my wrist, so what I'm saying is that it really is an individual assessment but mine went well and I hope yours does also whatever is decided. Best of luck, update and jaw! So, I had an MRI scan on my jaw in Dec. I've jad problems with it for 3 years really. the x-ray showed something a bit wrong but they didn't pay any attention to that. They shoved a load of steroids in it 3 times and made me an awful mouth guard-yipee! Eventually, they decided to do an MRI. To cut a story short, the scan showed some severe damage to the jaw joint and a huge tear through the lining. basically the joint is down to bone on bone so needs a repair job sooner rather than later. I've now got to wait for them to talk to the anaesthetist to see if I'm ok for a general. I've never had an operation of any kind before and they don't know if it's to risky with the stills but ____________________________________________________________ Get Free Email with Video Mail & Video Chat! http://www.netzero.net/freeemail?refcd=NZTAGOUT1FREM0210
