Guest guest
Dear Dr. McCandless, My son is 5 years old within ASD spectrum. From the last urine amino acids test we learned that his Beta-Alanine is very high 40 (range max is 10). We also have taurine very high 1970 (range 200 - 1000). Carnosine is also high 160 vs. < 100. It is my understanding that because of high Beta-Alanine, Taurine is wasted and DPP IV activity is reduced (inhibited). In addition, wasting Taurine will induce wasting of Magnesium. At this point, it is my understanding that all the other abnormal results are pointing in majority to huge deficiency in B6 and Magnesium and also malabsorption. Having said all the above, my questions are: 1. What can I do to bring the Beta-Alanine in normal range? 2. Dr. Pangborn said in his book that B6 can help (transaminase). If this is the case how much B6 (P5P) should I give and at what time (relative to the meals)? 3. Should I increase Magnesium accordingly? In addition I want to mention that we do have bad bacteria in the gut and we are currently treating it with CIPRO. In the last 4 months we supplemented 5000% B6 (P5P) and 100% Magnesium. Thank you for bringing the hope back into our lives, Sorin
