Guest guest
I don't know your situation, and I don't know how far away you are wanting the signal to carry, however it is really pretty easy to set up. Basically you just plug your internet modem, into the wireless router and then back to your computer. The other computer has to have a wireless card and pretty much they can get the internet with not a lot of setting up to do. It is pretty straight forward. However it does have limited distance, so this is something that you would have to talk to a "professional" about. I am sure there is a computer techy story in your town that should be able to help you. I love mine - I can recline in my lounger on my patio with my laptop and be on my cable internet. Now that is just plain neat! Guest guest
Hi Portia, Actually, my older son is the computer genius in the family so he's my "professional". He just wants to set me up so I don't have to be tied to the computer desk and can go wherever in the apartment that is comfortable for me. He says that the wireless will help me when I have bad days and need to stay in bed or on the couch and there won't be a bunch of wires all over that I could trip on...also so I won't have to worry about bending down and hooking everything up when I move from room to room..(that's kind of literal 'cause I only have 2 1/2 of them...LOL). I'm just concerned about spending money on something that isn't going to work well. I live in a basement apartment and would have to go down the hall and up the stairs to sit in the back yard so I don't expect it to work outside, but I'm just afraid that there is something innate in living in the basement that causes interference with the signal. My cell phone works at the top of th e stairs, but doesn't get a signal as soon as I get downstairs so I'm thinking the interference is in here and might mess up the signal with the wireless connection. I can imagine how great it must be to sit outside with the cable internet!!!! Guest guest
LINDA, JUST AN IDEA BUT COULD YOU RETURN IT AND GET YOUR MONEY BACK IF IT DOES NOT WORK. Guest guest
I am pretty sure the wireless would work find in your apartment. I am sure you could buy the items and then return them if it didn't work. But the reason your cell phone doesn't work in the basement is that it can't find the signal from the cell phone tower inside. With the wireless you are just going to be transmitting inside your apartment, so both the source and the receiving end will not be too far apart. I am sure it will work fine. And if your son can set it all up for you it will be great. You should probably be able to get everything you need for under $100 and it really does make it nice!
