Guest guest
Hi Sam, Gosh, I hope you're feeling better. It's good you can at least hook up while in the hospital. I hope you don't mind me asking, but my son has been bothering me to let him set me up in my apartment with one of those wireless connections. I just recently got cable internet(which I LOVE!!!) but I'm not sure about the wireless thing. Does yours work well? I live in a basement apt and can't get service on my cell phone as soon as I get down here...will there be interference with the wireless connection because of the basement? Hope you don't mind me asking you these questions while you're in the hospital....but maybe it'll give you something else to focus on(LOL) Get well soon!!!! Guest guest
Hi , I don't know if it would work in the basement. Sorry not to be able to help there. I have a " techi " , who puts all this together, and hooked me up. Some cable companies will hook this up (and Verizon, I think) wireless w/no charge, even. In this area, any who. I miss the cable speed! Sam Going home tomorrow! Hi Sam, Gosh, I hope you're feeling better. It's good you can at least hook up while in the hospital. Guest guest
Hi Sam, Since it's already tomorrow here....WELCOME HOME!!! Glad you're so much better..I know how bad being in the hospital can be..I was in for 9 WEEKS and no internet either! I can, however, tell you how many ceiling tiles there are in every room I was in! (LOL) My older son is a computer tech so he is up on everything...but he is a true "tech freak" so he has to have every new gadget available. He is always trying to talk me into getting new stuff and upgrades etc. What's good is that he can build me a computer from the ground up for much less than it would cost for me to buy it. As a matter of fact, my laptop is a cast-off from a collegue of his who said "if you can fix it you can keep it" So he fixed it, upgraded it and optimized it and gave it to me! What's bad is that I'm computer dumb! Oh, I'm good at the internet and using all sorts of applications, but start talking technical stuff and I just glaze over...and, of cou rse, he wants me to have all this new stuff all the time and I am very resistant. I have something called an external 4X burner and don't even know how to plug it in! He even has this little thing...about the size of a disposable lighter...that he carries around his neck...this little thing, he tells me, is a portable hard drive! When he needs to bring me a new program or do some clean up on my computer he pops this thing from around his neck and plugs it into the USB port on my computer and loads what he needs from it to my computer! Even tho I love him and trust him I can't help but be a bit laid back about him getting me things that I won't understand or use or be able to use! Portia posted me something about this that makes me feel a little better about saying OK, I just can't afford to spend $$ on something that might not work well... So, anyone with any experience with this..I would appreciate your input! Hope your recovery continues to move forward smoothly! Guest guest
I love all the new computer stuff and wish I always had the money to purchase more. I have a TV board in my computer and you can watch TV and I usually use it to capture clips from home movies. They are actually pretty cheap the one I have is a Hauppauge. http://www.hauppauge.com/index.htm I bought mine several years ago and I purchased a USB unit recently also. If you make use of Yahoo Messenger you can broadcast your video through the Messenger. I have been able to show my home video's to my parents in Florida when they stay there in the winter. Bill Here is a cartoon I captured off TV one day as an example Re: (unknown) SAM > Hi , > > I don't know if it would work in the basement. Sorry not to be able to help there.
