Thanks for sharing these insightful threads, and . I am awaiting my Yasko panel and, hopefully, better healing, knowing what supplements to take or not take. I am taking a supplement with Taurine in it now and I have had terrible scalp exudate and itching, so I resumed taking Sparga, instinctinctively -- to detox sulphur, upping my IRF saunas to clear the toxins building up from this prescribed nutraceutical. I have voiced my concern of supplement reactions to all of my practitioners for years, saying that my body is not absorbing, digesting, tolerating, etc. certain supplements I have been prescribed "to try," but only wasting money and not getting better for "trying" what was proposed to help...NOT. Dr. Amy's research makes so much sense and while it is not curative, it certainly can smooth the path for the

tumultuous road in this Lyme paradigm paving the way for optimizing healing conditions, while enabling our body do what it was created to do. Looking forward to getting the results and designing my individualized path for wellness in the chaos of disruption from Lyme and company. Keep up the fight in this battle of the millennium! :)

Hi ,You may already know some of this stuff, but I thought I would pass it along anyway. I have the following genetic mutations based on the Yasko Methylation Panel: CBS C699T+-CBS A360A +-I have a lot more mutations and allels which are the absence of genes altogether, but they are too numerous to list. My research has found that you have to be careful with supplementing Taurine. I am posting part of a report that explains some things about Taurine and Ammonia. I took the Methylation panel at holisticheal.com which is Amy Yasko's website. Here is an excerpt of some information on Taurine. In Yaskos's world, the presence or absence of a CBS upregulation has the biggest impact on one's supplement program. If there is a gene mutation on CBS, this needs to be addressed first prior to supplementing nutrients to support the methylation cycle. Because any added methylation support, in the presence of CBS upregulation, will be

drained through the transulfuration pathway to generate additional ammonia and excess sulfur compounds, which are toxic to the body. Increased ammonia can deplete BH4, which is needed for the production of neurotransmitters such as Serotonin and Dopamine. Sulfur compounds built up in the body will affect one's detoxification capacity. C699T is the severe form of CBS upregulation, and A360A, the mild form.A heterozygous mutation on both genes would require strict monitoring of urine sulfite and sulfate levels and testing for urine amino acids to better understand the levels of Ammonia and Taurine. Yasko's Ammonia Support Formula RNA is said to be effective in reducing ammonia in those who also have high levels of taurine, but not as effective for those who have low levels of taurine. Supporting the kidneys to detox can help them to filter and release toxic waste materials including ammonia. A vegetarian diet is beneficial in most cases since meats

increases Ammonia in the body. Nuts would be a better source of protein.I guess my point about being careful is that many Amino Acids have strong effects on the body as do B Vitamins and some minerals. Amy Yasko advises people to have a Urine Amino acid test done and a minerals test done before going crazy with supplementing one mineral or amino. If you supplement the wrong thing it can make you sicker. Many of Dr. Ks patients ended up Copper deficient from supplementing zinc for KPU. Aminos are the same way, and there is a delicate balance. If you don't need Taurine this could also account for your symptoms. The more I am studying Yasko, the more complicated I am finding the whole supplement picture and the relationship of these nutrients to various functions in the body. To much Vitamin C can be hard on the kidneys even though Linus ing advocated a huge amount and even though vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin, that does not mean that we

should not be careful. That is why it is a good idea to test your metals, minerals and amino acids prior to adding them in to your supplement regimen in order to see what deficiencies you are up against. Excess P5P, B12 and Folate can trigger big Detox symptoms, however if you do not handle methyl groups well because of gene mutations, then it is better to use the hydroxcobalmin version of vitamin B12 or the cyanocobalmin version. I found out that I do not handle methyl groups well because of some other genetic mutations that I have. I also don't handle sulphur groups well because of my CBS mutation which includes things like Glutathione, Garlic, ALA, Cysteine, DMPS, DMSA or MSM. If I take too much Glutathione, or any of the above it can cause an excess sulphur build up. One way to find out if you have sulphur conversion problems is to buy the sulphate test strips from Ben Meadows, they are meant for testing water. If you turn then orange, then you have

a sulphur problem. If you want to help your adrenals. There are many adrenal support formulas on the market that are made up of glandulars that might be a better choice at the moment.>> I am trying to help out my adrenals.
