# of carbs on low carb

Hi ,

Low carb can mean many different things. I follow Atkins and on that

you generally start off with 20 grams a day for the first 2 weeks. The purpose of the very low amount is to get it all out of your system... you will feel withdrawel type symptoms for the first 4-5 days. By the end of the two weeks (takes 4 days for me) you will feel very energetic.

Then you start to increase your carb intake by 5 gm a week until you stop losing weight

If you aren't trying to lose weight and only want to keep bg's in line, then you'll have to watch your meter to tell you how they're doing as you increase your carbs. If your bg's are very high before starting this , it will take a week or two to get your daily PP bg's in line, and a little longer (~ 4 wks) for the fasting.
