Guest guest
Hello everyone, I have a question. I am interested in producing a lotion that contains food ingredients such as lemon juice concentrate or royal jelly that can be eaten. Will adding preservatives in my lotion which contains food ingredients(such as lemon juice concentrate or royal jelly) prevent bacterias from forming? In other words, is it safe to add food ingredients(by food ingredients, I mean ingredients that are orally consumed such as lemon juice concentrate or royal jelly) in skincare products as long as preservatives are also added? Or are food ingredients different from cosmetic ingredients, therefore, regardless of preservatives added, will such products go bad? I do know that there are special lemon juice extract and royal jelly that are made to be used in cosmetics. However, I would think that ingredients that are orally consumed as foods can be added to skincare products as long as preservatives are also included. I very much need your assistance. Guest guest
, the only way you will really know if your lotion is preserved is to have it tested. Guest guest
Dear Dori, thank you for your help. You wrote: Preservatives are added in food products all the time, so I don't think it would be a problem.
