Hey Jen,

Man can I relate to you!!! I have muscle spasms like that daily. I take

Zanaflex(at night) and it REALLY helps (along with Hydrocodone). I have two cyst

in my shoulders that push on the nerves and stuff and boy does that hurt, but I

must say the worst is the muscle spasms. Burning aching pain like I've pulled a

muscle or something. Horrible. I've tried Soma but man it puts me in a HORRID

mood and I say and do things I would normally NEVER do....it does work though so

that is a little dissappointing on my part(same with Flexeril).

I have Fibro too and have just recently decided to get back on Celexa. I have

had depression my whole life, but the side effects of the meds really get to me.

Of course being depressed is ten times worse but somehow I reason all that out

in my head. Anyway, the Celexa makes me nauseated especially with the other meds

I am on, but I HAVE to just buck up and take it. I have really bad panic attacks

and cry over ANYTHING right now...my pain seems to be worse lately and some days

I feel like I just can't take it anymore. I'm prayaing the Celexa works like it

has in the past. I've always taken mine at night because it makes me sleepy.

I wanted to tell you about this stuff called Liquid Calm. It is just he powder

form of magnesiam that you mix with water and drink it down. It really does help

relax you whole body. If you are interested, I will find out where you can buy

it and let you know. I got mine from a chiropractor.

Well, hope this winter isn't too hard on us and I pray you will start feeling

better soon.

Hi Caitlin,

Nice to hear from you! That burning pain like a pulled muscle is

what I've been feeling just inside my left shoulder blade on the

left side for about 3-4 days now. I'm starting to think something

is pinched! I have a Lidoderm patch slapped on it right now, which

is keeping it down to below a dull roar! It's weird, but I

feel " okay " until about this time of night (6pm or so), and then I

start to feel bad again!

Hon, I am REALLY sympathizing with you about the cysts on your

shoulders....I am prone to cysts myself. Right now, I have Baker's

cysts on the backs of both knees, a cyst on the front of my left

knee, one in between my left ear an jaw, and I think I have one on

either side of my neck. I haven't figured out yet why I'm so prone

to them!!

Celexa has worked really well for me as far as depression goes. I

just started taking at night a few days ago, and I'm finding that

it's really helping with sleep, which is a very good thing. Even

taking 50mg of Seroquel at bedtime, I was still waking up at least

twice a night. Last night, I didn't wake up at all. And taking the

2 Soma and the extra magnesium is helping with the spasms. I just

got my Celexa refilled yesterday, and I found out that they've

released a generic version in the past month. I'm always hesistant

to switch to generics after taking the brand for so long. Sometimes

they just don't work! I know when I was taking BuSpar for anxiety,

they came out with a generic, and when I switched to that, my

anxiety level went right back through the roof! I didn't even

realize it was because of the switch until a long time later.

Thanks for the heads up on the Herbal Calm. I will have to check

that out. Right now, I am taking magnesium citrate at bedtime,

which is in powdered form, that I mix with warm water. It tastes

nasty, but it works a lot like you describe to relax the body. I

really believe in the healing value of nutritional supplements.

I'm hoping this winter isn't too bad too. I hate using those FMLA

days, because they either take away from my vacation days, or like

right now, when I don't have any vacation left for the year, I don't

get paid for taking the time off! I just hope THIS winter isn't as

hard on me as last year! Thanks for your well wishes!

Hey Jen,

Wow, it seems we have a lot in common. If the pain continues in your shoulders,

and you are prone to cyst, I wonder if you don't have the same thing I do????

Its a thought anyway. I could have sworn my pain was coming from my neck until

they did an MRI on both and figured out I had the cysts. Do your cyst hurt or

just annoying. I don't think its the cyst that actually hurt but the pressure of

them against my nerves and muscles.

I've been reading sooo many posts that I'm starting to get people confused. You

are 33 right? Any kids?

Thanks you for your post and I appreciate your feedback regarding Celexa and all

the rest.

Take care,

Caitlin/AR

Caitlyn,

Yeah, it seems we do have some things in common. My cysts are just

annoying most of the time, but hurt pretty bad when they get

inflamed, and it doesn't let up until they burst and star to drain,

only to wait for the next time around! Like you, it's more the

pressure from the inflammation that is painful to me rather than the

cyst itself.

I've thought about cysts in my shoulders, but I'm pretty sure that

it's more than likely degeneration of the tendons, and probably the

joints too. I had a severe adverse reaction to a drug called

Levaquin, which is the primary cause of my Fibro, as well as the

chronic, full body tendonitis. It's pretty well known for causing

permanent tissue damage, especially to the tendons. I've already

had surgery on my right shoulder, with very limited success, so I'm

figuring that the left side will follow behind in the years to

come.

Yes, you have me right...I'm 33, with 2 daughters. Keeley will be

14 next week, and Meghan will be 12 in March. And there is no need

to thank me for replying. It was my pleasure!

You take care of yourself, and I hope to talk to you soon!

Hi Jen,

Good to hear from you.

Its raining and cold here and I am in sooo much pain. I've got a cold and due to

start my period tomorrow so that does not help, just makes me feel that much

more whiney!!

I love the name Keely and Meghan is cute too! My little girl is 4 and her name

is . Girls are so much fun! Yours are starting the " teenage " phase so you'll

have to let me know how that is going for you. I'm scared about that phase

because I was a particularly horrid teenager. Go figure!

Do you know what causes your cyst to become inflamed? I cannot see mine, I can

only tell they are inflamed by my pain levels. But if there is something I could

be doing to keep the cyst from becoming inflamed, by golly, I'm going to try it

for sure!! I felt so good yesterday and the weather was so nice that I decided

to sweep the house (mistake!) and put up the X-mas stuff. I'm paying for it now.

That is what is so frustrating about chronic pain. I so much want to do " normal "

things that I push too hard sometimes and then am sorry. Up and down, just like

a roller coster.

What was the reason for the shoulder surgery? Did you have to get the tendons

repaired? Eventually they will have to take these cyst out if they continue to

grow (6 cm now) and do not drain or burst. Does it hurt when that happens...it

sounds painful, but you said that it brings relief? I hope mine burst and soon

if that is the case.

Take care,

Caitlin/AR
