Guest guest
Thanks for the tips. You certainly have learned you way around the entitlement programs. I am just starting out. My furnace is still working, but not well and it could go at any time. It certainly is not efficient, so I have been using it very sparingly. Today is warmer than it has been in a long time, so no need to use the old furnace. Our income is practically nil, but we are living off our savings and that probably knocks us out of the running for many benefits. Still, I am realizing that it is cost effective to give us a small hand out now than to wait until we are totally broke and need more, so I suppose that is why these non profits exists. Better times may be coming and then we hopefully would not need help. Our savings are too high to qualify us for food stamps. I have, however, become a very smart grocery shopper. Today we went to two stores, one an Asian Market, and only paid a total of $35. We got two lbs of fresh salmon, a lb of broccoli, 2 lbs of carrots, a fresh celery, 2 doz jumbo eggs, nearly 9 lbs of apples and 10 lbs of brown rice. I am seeing that a rich person can be a fool, but poorer people need to be smart. Guest guest
, Do check things out, such as food stamps anyway. In Michigan, your assets are NOT counted. Only your income and household expenses are used in the calculation. In California, who knows, you guys do strange things out there But here, assets have NEVER been used as a determining factor. This is true of many programs including the pharmacy and charitable organizations helping me with my coinsurance and deductibles. jeff > > Thanks for the tips.
