Guest guest
Has 4 S been documented in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual? The military does not seem to acknowledge it because the military doctors tell me its not in there. They keep telling me its OCD or ADD (which i do have but cope very well with it). If anyone can give me other information to tell my doc on the base it would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.
Guest guest
Hi I would advise using earplugs or, as Darlene suggested, using an iPod/MP3 player. Lorazepam/xanax belong to a class of drug called benzodiazepines, and they can be addictive and cause long term changes to brain chemistry. I have taken them, and ended up in hospital and incapacitated for months from worse anxiety than they were meant to assist me with... they could put you on a long road to dependency and possible adverse reactions. If you can manage it, try a non-chemical approach to management :-)To: Soundsensitivity Sent: Tuesday, November 15, 2011 2:05 PMSubject: Re: question , I have had experience with xanax which is similar to Lorazepam. The doctor is right that it is not a long term fix but it will certainly help you with the anxiety. My advice is to just prepare yourself mentally that you WILL hear gum and other noises. Prepare yourself mentally that you WILL get through it. I know worrying is natural for us, but honestly... it will only make it worse. Do you have an iPod? Listening to calming music will help. Just remember that your time on that plane and in the airport is only temporary and you WILL get through it. Tell yourself that over and over, especially when you hear a trigger. I know you can do this. > > I am scheduled to go on a long plane trip close to Kzyrkastan soon. My doctor is prescribing "Lorazepam" for me while i am stuck in the airports and on the airlines. Has anyone had any experience with this? He did say this is not a long term fix, its just to get me through my long travels and to help me in the airport. Im still nervous because so many people decide to chew gum for their travels. I dont want to have a nervous break down or anything, but im still concerned. The noise cancelling headphones only help so much and im not sure if they believe what we go through with these things. If anyone has any more ideas to help me through my travels it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. >
Guest guest
Eag plugs will help you with your short-term needs. I find that lorazepam is relaxing and helps with sleep > > I am scheduled to go on a long plane trip close to Kzyrkastan soon. Guest guest
Thank you so much for the suggestion. I am familiar with both and find the higher disciple ear plugs the best. Also, I am so grateful for ipod. If anything, certain music can help calm you down. Guest guest
Just adding to what others are saying: playing music may be better than just earplugs during the flight, but you will need the earplugs for takeoff and landing when you have to turn off your music player. I prefer either having a playlist or have nature sounds on continuous play, so there is no break and I don't have to hear the outside noise while trying to find a new track I want to listen to. Be prepared I have no experience with Lorazepam, but I would recommend some herbal 'chill pills' like St. 's wort or 5HTP. Safe travels! > > I am scheduled to go on a long plane trip close to Kzyrkastan soon. My doctor is prescribing " Lorazepam " for me while i am stuck in the airports and on the airlines.
