Guest guest
DO you really mean RAW bacon? This is not too good for you, even if it does bring down bs. froggie
Guest guest
Yikes I was thinking the same thing bacon raw could get you really really sick. I can't for the life of me remember what the actual name of it is but I've always heard that raw pork can make you extremely ill. I would think that it could raise blood sugars if you eat the bacon with sugar in it. Brightest of Blessings to you! ^GyPsY

The regular stuff you by at the supermarket smoked and sliced. juliusBacon must be ccoked unless you buy it pre cooked, its pork, uncooked pork can make a person very ill. It is good to eat as far as diabetes goes, just make sure it isn't cured with sugar. The label will tell you if there is sugar in it, yours probably didn't since your bg went down. Pork rinds, the famous diabetics munchies is made from bacon, so its ok, but beware of the salt if you are salt restricted, otherwise, enjoy!! carol
Guest guest
The problem with raw pork is the possibility of Trichinosis, a parasite that infects pigs. I have an uncle who got infected while in the Army 1941.......Still won`t eat the pig no matter how well cooked it is. Eating any meat uncooked, or in soom cases undercooked and be a bit dangerous. Gov. inspection has made the U.S. meat industry the safest in the world.....................Jack -- In diabetes@y..., carol <astrocarly@y...> wrote: > > > > gysz@y... wrote: > > Sorry for my english, not raw, smoked bacon. It comes in a bag, I use it all the time I buy it online its hard for me to get, I have no financial or other interest in this company You can email them on the web page and ask for assitance if you need to or call them, number is on web page, tell them you want the soft ones. The hard ones are impossible to chew http://store.yahoo.com/low-carb/index.html carol
Guest guest
The problem with raw or undercooked pork is trichonosis (sp). Its a parasite in the meat that can only be killed by cooking it well. It gets into your muscle and wreaks havoc. And yes, ham and bacon that is cured with sugar will have more of an effect on your bg's. Also have to watch the sausage. As to pork rinds... some people taste them once and go YUCK <G> but the thing about them is it depends on who makes them! Different companies pork rinds taste entirely different. And there are different types also. There are the ones that are cooked very hard and you can break your teeth off trying to eat them (my DH loves those!) And there are the lighter fluffier ones that have a nice crunch. Look in the meat case for chiccarones - they're usually very good. You can take these pork rinds and grind them up in the food processor and use them to coat chicken for frying. Very good Obviously not for people on low fat diets - these are low carb luxuries Meenie Yikes I was thinking the same thing bacon raw could get you reallyreally sick. Guest guest
Hi Julius, You're right... its the french fries. And the twinkies, and the tortilla chips, and all the excessively starchy foods that Americans eat constantly. Meenie I was only 140lb for my 5' 8" hight. I guess Hamburgers and fries change that since.I had relatives come over from europe, staid for two months or so,and they all gained weight during the visit.I see lot of over weight people in this country, I'm talking about 300lb+, barely can walk. There are some in europe but not that much, generly every one looks fit. Even my father made a note of it, when he was visiting here. I'm not sure if it's due to life style or genetics. It maybe, because our modern life style,TV, automobile that parks at the door and generly not moving all day and burning energy. Well, we try to compensate it with a half an hour exersice a day. julius
Guest guest
Raw pork should not be eaten due to the Trichina worm or Tricanosis <sp>. ^GyPsY on 03/08/2001 07:29:30 PM Please respond to diabetes To: diabetesyahoogroupscom <diabetes > cc: Subject: re: What's in the bacon? Guest guest
This is how Dr. Toms came through to me. Is this what you were talking about? Debbie Re: re: What's in the bacon? ÿþ<
Guest guest
Well, this morning my bg was 150, I had a nice bacon breakfest, with tomato and low-carbH organic bread (11gr/slice). I felt energetic so I vent out to jog then bicycle around town for 2 hours. At noon I pulled out my gluco meter and behold I'm reading " 86 " . I haven't had this a long time. I've been averaging 200 or so, taking my Metform and feel lusy all morning, not doing anything. I bought some pork rins or what ever it's name at the store, very tasty, bacon like. My plan is, I'll do bacon breakfest every other morning and only in the morning so i can work it off during the day, exercise and monitor my weight close.
