Guest guest
Hi My name is , I'm 35 and from Washington state. I think this is a good place to vent and ramble. Everyone here can understand pain and how it can affect one's life! I hear you though, I rarely talk about my problems for fear I'll be accused of complaining. I have ME, fibromyalgia, and herniated discs in my lower back. I take Vicodin for the pain. Sometimes it makes me feel like a " stoner " but without it I could barely move! I had to go to the ER recently and the doc that treated me was surprised I hadn't had surgery yet. Yikes...the dreaded " S " word! Have you ever considered acupuncture treatments? I take those and it is amazing how it helps. It also helps my chronic nausea too. I feel lucky that my insurance covers the treatments. It doesn't help the big time pain but it takes away my achiness and malaise. Just a thought! Well I hope you have a happy New Year!!! Makepeace wrote: Hello everyone. Guest guest
Welcome to the group . Unfortunately, Dicloflex, like other anti inflammatory meds, is really hard of the body. It's a shame because so many of them do a good job of knocking back the pain. I can no longer take any anti inflammatories (other than the occasional coated aspirin) because they wreak too much havoc on my digestive system. I trust your physician is running regular tests to make sure your liver function is okay. Please watch out for tummy problems too. Most of the anti inflammatories can cause serious ulcers as well. Ah the joys of side effects -- there's nothing like 'em! :-) -- Lyndi Makepeace wrote: <snipped> > Thankfully my rheumatoid test came back normal, but at the same time > she told me that I couldn't take my meds long term. > > I was taking 150mg of Dicloflex. Guest guest
Hi Lyndi and thanks :-) I really don't know much about arthritis....if you can't take these anti-inflamatories long-term..then what do people do? I can't imagine going back to the pain I was in. My husband and I are thinking that when we move next Fall we are going to have to get a place with no stairs. Being in pain all the time does a number on my mood and energy level. Sometimes I feel so guilty....I have a 6 year old daughter...and she see's me suffer. Are there other treatments for the pain that don't mess up your body like the anti-inflamatories?
Guest guest
Hi Kathleen, I've only been diagnosed with Chrondromalacia...but my doctor was concerned that it might be more because I suffer from pain in many joints...not just my knees. She ran some tests a few weeks ago...I know one was for rheumatoid arthritis...but it came back normal. From what I can see it looks like I have osteo-arthritis. I have an appointment with her next week to discuss things further. She had me cut back on my anti-inflamatories and now I'm not doing so well. I guess everyone here knows what its like to be in pain constantly. I'm doing my best to deal with it...and I do admit the pain is 100 times worse without any anti-inflamatories...so that gives me some perspective. As for London...well I got married this past July :-) My husband is British and we decided to live here. Its a beautiful city and I already feel at home here. Nice to meet you :-) I can already tell this is a great group.
Guest guest
Hello , Sorry you are in such pain. Welcome to the group. Maybe you should go to some type of specialist that can help you figure out why you are in so much pain? Do you have insurance or anything? I know how you feel not talking about your pain much at home. Everyone flinches if I bring up mine so I pretty much keep it to myself. Thats what this group is good for! Take care, Caitlin Makepeace wrote: I've been dealing with chronic joint pain for a few years now...having a dislike for doctors I didn't get myself checked out till recently. Guest guest
MOderator's Note: Please clean up your posts before sending them in, it is harder ro read them for the digest members. They may be rejected and sent back to you for you to clean it up and resubmit your post. With all the excess garbble at the end of the original post, makes it harder to read for the ones that get the digest. I have cleaned up this post so you know how they should look, Thanks for your help keeping everything tidy! :-) Hi Caitlin :-) Yes I love having this group. I don't like talking about my pain at home...I feel like I'm just complaining too much...but the truth is I'm in pain most days. I'm in the UK now...so I don't have to worry about health insurance. Not having in the US was one reason I never got checked out before now. I think my doctor is going to refer me to a physiotherapist. I see her at the end of this week. I'm hoping too she might have some better answers for me. My mother has osteoarthritis/fibromyalgia....but she is 53....I'm 28 and even she admits my condition is far worse than her's. Its very frustrating...especially having a 6 yr old daughter who wants to run, jump, and have fun...and I can't do those things with her :-( I was in so much pain the past few days that I took 3 of my anti-inflamatories yesterday...and today I'm doing a lot better. I've been trying to think of other things I can do to relieve the pain. I guess its going to take some research. I know that one thing that does help is putting ice packs on my joints...which ever one is acting up most. Sometimes I wish I had icepacks to just wear on my knees LOL.
