Guest guest
Dearest Suzanne (or should I say Potentially Bodacious Babe), With an intro like that, I am sure you will attract about 50% of our BFL population (and I mean more than just the men) to offer to help you. I, myself, keep searching for the opening to return to my BFL routine, and you may have presented me with the best reason to do so. I've had wonderful success with BFL, but, I have had a great number of recent excuses to let myself spin partially out of control. Maybe the Potentially Bodacious Babe and this 51 year old Hidden Hurting Handsome Hunk can get together to light-up the BFL dance-floor together. I still have 3 of 8 children to drive me nuts and distract me on the home-front, so the playing field is about even. Just say " when " ! I am tired of my own excuses and am looking to get back to my healthy, fit, self. By the way, I can handle more than one Potentially Bodacious Babe at a time, so, who else wants to join in this fun? And, since I am an equal opportunity BFL'er, I'll invite other potentially handsome hunks in on this, too. Waiting your move, my dear. Remember... Progress, NOT Perfection! (Via: BlackBerry) returning B4Ler OK I have been cotemplating this for weeks now. I NEED to do this. And am COMPLETELY underconfident to make all these decisions and goals and plans. SO, I am looking for a buddy, or better yet a mentor, to bounce thigns off of. Any takers? Anyone out there with a challenge or two of success who wants to personally inspire a (whispers- 42 yr old) Potentially Bodacious Babe (with a sense of humor)? I have read the book, I KNOW the stuff, LOVE working out, yes LOVE it, and have started a couple times over the years but never completed a challenge. I live kind of isolated and have 4 kids that drive me nuts half the time. So, I am somewhat stressed and alone, which make it harder to focus and be committed, and give myself the space. So, that's my story, I'm sticking to it, and maybe someone out there somewhere, beneath the pale moonlight (song quote, no, I am not nuts, if I do say so myself)(haha) is willing to connect a couple times a week to chat or phone and give me boost. Thanks! Suzanne

Guest guest
Hey Randy, , and whoever I cannot see names of, OK well here is my latest: I am VERY S L O W to make decisions and plans. This week I am cleaning up my food, and rereading the book and writing goals and WOs. I am on dial-up hell here so only go online sporadically, hence the delay in posting a current report. Glad everyone enjoyed my slap-happy note from before. , I wrote you a bit years ago, so I do know you a bit, and forgive the dirty-old-man act. Haha. I know you are a good guy! I would like to - no, I PLAN TO (!) WO in the mornings, first thing. I have a nice relatively flat road in front of the house, and free weights. I am miles the heck out in the middle of nowhere'sville and 25 min at least to a gym, so between gas $$ and time, that is out. For now. My most urgent quesiton right now is, what is the best program to increase knee strength fast, before skiing next wednesday? Any experienced vets willing to suggest moves, reps? My start point is, sit down if you are not already, I gotta lose a whoppin 80 lbs, by traditional measurements. Don't know how many inches that translates to, or wt in increased muscle. I love working out and used to at my school's wt room (whispers 20 yrs ago shhhh), but have not allowed myself the indulgence since having my twins 16 yrs ago. My little one is now 8, and oldest is off to college - THANK GOD! God knows I love 'er but Lordy it's time to get her own life! - and I feel that this winter is a good time to start into building agian, and how I have to make up for lost time! I LOVE running in the cold. Last winter I did HIIT for 2 months and got a pain in my upper inner shin that did not go away until 3 months of rest. By then it was hot as hell and I was no longer excited about cardio! Think that is long enough? Is there a sire to post progress data? So nice to have a place to commit thoughts and goals to where I am supported! Have a great week everybody! Guest guest
Keep at it - I think 4 lbs in 4 weeks is keeping it real! Lose it slow, and less chance of putting it back on. Good job of making do what you have available. I live in a city, but just prefer to work out alone at home with my own equipment. Of course, I LOVE running so even as it gets warm, I would encourage you to continue with that cardio. Get out early in the morning before it gets hot. No idea on the knees. I don't want to steer you wrong. Guest guest
Since you have a relatively flat road and no treamill I would strongly suggest you google a running plan called " Couch to 5K " . It is basically a running plan where you start off slowly and keep adding to it. I got tired of the treadmill last fall and started running outside and just ran 7 miles this past Sunday. (49 years old) and plan on doing a half marathon 13 miles later this summer. Running will help you shed lbs more than anything along with making you feel alot better during the day. Mix in some weights, core workouts and other exercises and you will be slim and looking great in no time! PLAN YOUR MEALS! Randy
Guest guest
I tried the couch to 5K program but my knee (right knee) gave out completely, and I am still experiencing pain in it. Is there any hope to run at some point? My knees are so bad from being 6'9 " that I really can't run sustained without knee pain. Any ideas? I'm assuming that losing weight will help (obviously), so I've been swimming for the cardio, but is running out of the picture until I'm lighter, or ever? > > > Since you have a relatively flat road and no treamill I would > > strongly suggest you google a running plan called " Couch to 5K " . Guest guest
Barefoot running is great for strengthening the feet and many people find it eliminates other problems. I am hoping to incorporate it into my routine however I am not actually barefoot since I use the Vibram 5 fingers shoes. I also wear these shoes for lifting weights. I have 2 different pair and love them. With running, you just have to keep at it and work though the issues, the best you can. Andy > > > Well, I run barefoot so I don't have any leg, knee problems etc., and it works for most people but not all. Women are susceptible to a syndrome involving the slippage of the kneecap which causes inflamation in the tendons under the knee cap. This is the most likely problem. Get a couple of the knee support bandages with the hole in the knee cap and where them whenever you work out. I would see if you could find a stationary bike on Craigslist cheap and use it. Cardio is cardio. Swimming is great as well but I would suggest the bike. >  > Wear the supports with the knee brace and shoe inserts and try very light jogging as well. >  > Hope this helps. > Randy
