Hi all and happy new year,

My husband, ' surgery was a total success the doctor said. There was more

damage than they had thought but they were able to fix him up. He did have to go

into ICU however because they can't keep his oxegen levels up and he has

congestion in his lungs. I couldn't get him to quit smoking before surgery. They

said he now has COPD. He has a slight fever also but he is in the best of care

and it has turned out to be a good hospital. He hasn't been in his room so I

haven't been able to stay with him and I have been at a motel blocks away. An

unexpected expense, but I don't want to leave him. We are three hours away from

home. The motel is a new place and they have given me a discount each night

which is very nice of them! Free internet access too.

Because they went to his spine from the front and the back he is in a lot of

pain but they are managing it with Dilaudid and got him up yesterday twice.

My ankle is swollen like crazy but doesn't hurt too much and overall I am doing

alright, just a bit tired and sore. I will stay in touch when I can.

Loving thoughts to you all,
