Guest guest
Thanks Debbie! We really do have to call it as we see it, and you are right that the vast majority of EN Group members have chosen to ignore our pleas to fund our own research to find effective treatments and cures for EN. Without this research we are just holding each others hands--which is good, but we are missing the opportunity to join forces and accomplish what has not ever been done for those with EN--get REAL RESEARCH and REAL ANSWERS that will do more than rehash what we knew a hundred yrs ago. So for those with a few extra dollars here are the many ways you may contribute to EN Research: http://poems2order.wordpress.com/donate-to-erythema-nodosum-research/ I am doing my year end financial summary to see how we are doing. Hubby and I and our 3 cats live in expensive Southern Calif. and managed to get by on a total of $22,000 this year--no handout or unemployment benefits--just belt tightening and making due with what we have. About a forth of that went to paying for my own private health insurance. I still managed to make a contribution to our EN research fund--so Yes, Debbie, I do feel that where there is a will there is a way. It is just a matter of priorities. In my case we only ate out once this year at The Soup Plantation [with a coupon ;-) ]and we never went to movies. I didn't even buy a new pair of shoes this year. Today Steve and I figured out how to repair our old kitchen faucet and now we don't need to get a new one or call the plumber. Hard times makes people tough, and it teaches you the value of a dollar. I know that dollars spent of research funded through NORD will go further than my fleeting pleasure of a couple restaurant meals or movies. But, if the Group is not behind us on this, we have to respect their decision. I had EN for 41 yrs and now it has been in remission for over 2 solid yrs. I am very grateful for that. I hope everyone who has EN goes into long term remission without the research like I did. Happy 2011, Everyone!
