Guest guest
I'm fairly new so I have no real ideas, except you probably really do need to start exercising. From what I'm reading, if you're losing weight, you could be losing muscle and your metabolism is slowing down to starvation mode. But if you start exercising, you'll rev up your metabolism and start putting on muscle. Don't have to go out and sweat and do a marathon. Just walking is fine. Even 10 minute walks three times a day is fine. Can you find someplace to go and do a little exercise? Need to take it slow at first, but if you've been on this program for three months, it seems like you've got the eating down. Let us know if you have suggestions. Guest guest
Tracey, I know that must have been a big disappointment! But, don't give up! -- it's probably just an aberration. :-) Since you stuck to your Points range, it's got to be something else. A number of possibilities: could it be that time of month? could there be some other reason that you might be retaining water (eating more salty foods, etc.)? perhaps the weigh-in was at a different time of day than usual? maybe you didn't go to the bathroom, and/or had eaten a lot of fiber the day before (I won't go into that -- ha ha -- but it does take a while for food to make it's way through your system)? There is even the possibility that your scale might not be very accurate -- is it one of those bathroom scales that sits on the floor? They have springs inside and aren't real accurate. If that's the case, you might see if you can weigh yourself somewhere else -- a nearby doctor's office might let you just come in and weigh yourself on their scale (wear the same clothes each time), or a local gym or YM/WCA or even a store that sells scales are other possibilities. Good luck and hang in there. As long as you're OP, there's no way you won't lose weight over time. -:|:- ....a happiness independent of conditions... ----- Original Message ----- From: " Tracey Carsto " I'm an on-line user, so I don't have a leader to ask, so I thought I'd ask y'all. I weighed in this morning and I had a 4 lb. gain. Last week I didn't gain or lose. I haven't been exercising, so I know this isn't muscle weight instead of fat, but I've been totally OP. Last week I thought I had just hit a plateau as the scale didn't move. I've been OP for a little over 3 months, but with the gain this week I don't guess it's a plateau. Has anybody else had this happen? Any ideas? I thought about eating at the low end of my points this week, but with Valentine's Day tomorrow that will be nearly impossible as it's my in-laws anniversary and we go to their house for dinner and I have NO control over the menu, and believe you me it won't be low-fat or low-cal. I know I can try to eat lightly the rest of the day, but I'm also hypoglycemic, so I have to be very careful, and usually eat 4 meals a day, so cutting back will be very difficult. Guest guest
Diane, Thanks for the advise. I've been trying to exercise, just slacked off the last couple of weeks. I've got a Gazelle here that I can use so I don't have to drive somewhere to exercise (real deterrent for me as we live in the country), and we have lose dogs in the neighborhood so walking outside can be hazardous. I don't have any excuses for not exercising other that I don't enjoy it. I'm going to get the Gazelle out this afternoon and do some time on it though. Thanks for the encouragement. Guest guest
, Thanks for the advise. I have been eating some salty foods lately. I've had a partial hysterectomy, but I do still have my ovaries, so I could be having hormone fluctuations causing me to hold water also. I've been craving food this week, and that's not normal for me, so it could well be hormonal. I always weigh in first thing in the morning in the nude, so it wasn't different clothes or different time, but could have been fiber that I hadn't quite gotten rid of. Thanks again, I feel much better now. I'm going to do some exercising today and tomorrow to earn some extra points for dinner tomorrow night. DH told me that we are having salad, pasta, and garlic bread for dinner at the in-laws. I'd like to take something with me, but it would be considered an insult, so that's out of the question. I'll just try and fill up at home with low-point foods so that I can eat a little there and not still be hungry. Guest guest
Whooah, it's not so good if you don't enjoy it. Can you put some good music on, or put on the TV, or set it up so you can read? My YMCA has these little TV sets attached to the cardio machines and they get cable, so I can go and work out and watch MTV or a cable movie, or Jeopardy. Plus, at Spinning class they always have music. Try some music...it's bound to help. I recommend Dixie Chicks. Re: Help I gained > Diane, > > Thanks for the advise. Guest guest
Diane, Well, I just earned 3 activity points. I watch TV while I exercise, but I still don't enjoy it. Hopefully I'll come to enjoy it as it gets a little easier. As far as dinner tomorrow night goes, I was planning on a BIG salad, lite dressing, a small amount of pasta with tomato sauce, and one small piece of garlic bread. I'll have about 8 extra points between banked points and activity points, so I should be able to stay within my points for the day. I'll skip dessert though. I wish I could skip dinner and just stay home with DH but it's the in-laws anniversary, adn they like their kids there to help them celebrate. Thanks again for all the wonderful advise. Guest guest
Well, if you've planned. Just all that butter on garlic bread makes it high points, and to me it isn't worth it. Good job!!! Guest guest
Diane, Garlic bread is something I absolutely love. I'll have enough points for it as long as I skip dessert, so I'll be okay. Thanks. Guest guest
Machelle, I probably had some water retention. I had eaten some higher sodium foods lately, but I do drink all of my water, and only the occasional cup of herbal tea, so I'm sure I'll flush it all out before my next weigh in.
