Guest guest
That's awesome! My body seems to want to remain at this weight but it's changing shape so that's all good too I'm thinking it's changing from the inside out right now and it will all show up on the outside as well with definition and smaller inches, toned and FABULOUS!!! > > I got on the scale today and I was 6 pounds down! Guest guest
Very good attitude!!! It is best to keep working hard at it. The worse thing to do is continually fall back saying " progress not perfection " . I asked Bill a question about that mantra once. He said some people cannot accept what occurs unless they do it perfectly. He further went on to say that " progress not perfection " is not a fallback position if you continually fail or fall way short of your goal. Believe and achieve!! > > > > I got on the scale today and I was 6 pounds down! I started using the DailyPlate at LIVESTRONG.COM this past week. Guest guest
This was an obvious dig at one of our members. Please remember this is a support group. You have been warned! Guest guest
Also, please remember to sign your name at the end of posts. We've been lax on it lately. Andy > > Very good attitude!!! Guest guest
Sorry I haven't responded sooner. I had abdominal surgery and it's taking me a while to bounce back. Progress not perfection is great for us perfectionist......I have let many things stop me because I didn't do it perfectly. As child I was basically told if you can't do it perfectly don't bother......more times than not I was told don't bother because I didn't do it perfectly. If I am constantly striving for the mark, that is what my measure is, not my size, not my plan. Some days that means the program is followed 100%, the last few weeks it means I push through my pain zone and keep working toward when I can lift again. I, for one, am thankful for progress, not prefection. Sherryw On Mon, Jun 8, 2009 at 4:14 PM, awakesleeping59 wrote: > > > Very good attitude!!! It is best to keep working hard at it. Guest guest
Sherry & Andy, Thank you for your positive comments supporting my favorite mantra. I suppose my perfectionist profile also comes from that same, do it right, or don't do it at all, training as a child. If we take 100 steps with 51 in the right direction, I have learned that I have made progress. I may not be where I want to be, but, I am ahead of where I was. Quiet often, those other 49 steps NOT in the right direction, were not ALWAYS backwards. Many of those non-forward steps have opened new doors, kindled new ideas, or provided differing opportunities. In health and fitness, sometimes I need to learn from my mistakes. If I am in better health today than 5 years ago, that's a good thing. I was certainly given a taste of what I might feel like if I get closer to my goals, but, life does not always provide a " perfectly " straight line for me to follow. I feel Bill is a pretty straight forward type of person. And, although " Progress, NOT perfection " has been my mantra before I was introduced to BFL, I don't feel Bill suggested to " awakesleeping59 " that net, small steps are NOT progress. I would have to believe Bill's response was not completely clarified in his / her statement. (Assuming it was Bill " " that made those comments. Believe and achieve is a fine mantra, too, awakesleeping59. In fact, that is one of the concepts behind having a positive mindset. But, for my own personality type, I will continue attempting to seek... Progress, NOT perfection! Happy BFL'ing, Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Re: Re: What did I do?? Guest guest
Twas not a " dig " as you say ANDREW. It was my opinion of the mantra. It appears that someone fits the description I provided. I apologize for striking a nerve with you. JAM > > > > Very good attitude!!! It is best to keep working hard at it. The worse thing to do is continually fall back saying " progress not perfection " .
