I would love to walk the Pacific Crest Trail - though it truly is hiking and you need to be prepared for such. Unfortunately, I have to keep my job and don't have the time it takes to allow for such an undertaking.

Good luck! BPrincess Ruby 2-Shoes, CGC, CL1, CL 2/R,H,S, CL3-RInside me is a thin woman screaming to get out but I keep her sedated with chocolatePlease Adopt Your Next Pet

I would love to do a modified walk, like Steve did, while doing this lemon cleanse or maybe just eating raw food.But... I have this fear of my safety.I think I would feel better if I had a person or two with me. Or maybe I would feel better if I did a walk on something like the Pacific Crest Trail..My son graduates from college this summer and will be moving out on his own so I will have a situation in my life, for the first time, where I could do something like that.Kathleen

Yes it is my only time off I get...I like hiking solo....most of it is easily to follow, I carry maps and directions for each section when I go

There are some rough sections but the only time I had trouble was going too early and losing the trail in the snow...but I came home ok....

Jane

That's wonderful. Do you do it yourself?I get afraid I will get lost. If you are not an experienced hiker you might want to check for a fairly short area close to where you are....I am in NO CA and have done most of it from the Feather River North to Mt Ashland...still have about 80 miles to fill in. I cannot say which part I like better...I can think of so many things in each section that was spectacular! After I fill in the blanks I intend to start going south from Feather River and North from Ashland. Right now I am in training to climb Whitney this summer with a friend.

Jane

That's what I will do. I will just do a section of the trail. Is there a particular one you would recommend?Kathleen> >> > I do sections of the PCT every year...some day I want to be able to walk > > the whole thing!> > Jane> > > > > > In a message dated 1/20/2010 6:00:12 A.M. I live in TX now but I moved here from that area.

I taught school in sville and lived in Lake Wildwood!

I used to run when I lived there. There was a group of us and on weekends we would drive to some wonderful scenic dirt road and run 5 to 10 miles

lol..Yes Gone Missing is my trail name....I earned it! lolol No hiking last year as hubbie had major health issues...Tax time is definitely here! No you did not tell me about last year...but I have heard some stories from people that would make the hair stand straight up I tell you! Every time I think I heard it all I hear another one.Best wishes on your new one.

Jane

I liked the nickname you earned from that adventure, wasn't it gone missing? Are you doing a different section this year? How's the tax season shaping up?We may have found a good tax accountant this time, did I tell you about our debacle last year? yikes....hope you get some hiking in before tax time.laurie> >> > I do sections of the PCT every year...some day I want to be able to walk > > the whole thing!> > Jane> > > > > > In a message dated 1/20/2010 6:00:12 A.M. Why can't you hike now?To: thefatmanwalking_group Sent: Sat, January 23, 2010 12:20:31 AMSubject: Re: Walking Long Distance

you gotta let me know when you head north of mt ashland! I am trying to be able to hike again, would love to do a southern portion of the PCT. i've only done a section that goes through/past Mt . And that was a very very long time ago.

oh wikipedia has a nice PCT page.

all of my muscles, ligaments & where the muscles attach to the bone, go into

spasms and knots. painful spasms and knots.

i haven't been able to find a doctor who would do more than a routine panel of

tests. the last 3 doctors have all said my tests are 'normal' so there must not

be anything wrong and it should go away soon if there is. There is no 'evidence'

that anything is wrong. Which really irks me, because anyone could feel all the

knots in my muscles & ligaments, especially my massage therapist.

It is slowly getter better, I make sure not to drink too much plain water, for

some reason it seems to flush all my minerals away. I used to drink lots and

lots of water all day because my throat gets sore. To clarify on that, our water

here is 99% pure with no minerals & a PH of 7, so it's not like drinking well

water or other water that has minerals in it. When I drink water now, I splash

in a little lemon juice, juice, potasium salts or something to add some

electrolytes.

No milk, low grains, and low fats, and I'm not sure what else, oh and I had to

stop taking my heavy duty multi vitamin, i think it had too much of something

that was throwing my system off.

So I need to make another doctor appointment with a new doctor and see if she'll

do a full mineral panel and see if i'm really off on something.

Sorry to gone, but figured if i was going to send an update, i'd cover a bit

more.
