Guest guest
Hi there. My name is Becky and I am 27. I starting having severe signs/symptoms of MS in 2000-01 and nothing was found on my MRI then. They diagnosed me has having facial numbness and atypical migraines. Here it is 3 years later and I've had a bad spell, even worse than before and have clear cut optic neuritis. I spent all week in the hospital and on IV steroids. I'm not doing too well now as my vision is very bad and I am in severe pain and miserable. The doctors are telling me that there aren't enough lesions there to make it clear cut although they know it's MS. Supposedly, I've progressed in symptoms and now have three small lesions but it's not enough to get help or start on one of the ABC drugs to help me. I am at a loss and don't know what to do. I have no medical insurance and no hope of getting state help if there's no diagnosis. I hope to get to know you all better and share with you through this nightmare. Guest guest
DEAR BECKYLYNN, YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO ANY THING SPECIAL. LEARN TO LISTEN TO YOUR BODY; IF IT SAYS HEY I AM TIRED UNLESS YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING TODAY REST OR AT LEAST GO AT A REDUCED RATE. IF YOU HAVE MEDS THAT HELP OK TAKE THEM AND LET THEM HELP BUT SOME TIMES THE BODY STILL WANTS TO QUIT = LET IT FOR A WHILE. JUST REMEMBER YOU CAN DO MOST THINGS YOU MAY HAVE TO CHANGE THE WAY YOU DO. AND LEARN HOW FAR YOU CAN PUSH WITHOUT YOUR BODY HAVING TO PAY THE PRICE THEN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DECIDE IF THE RESULTS ARE WORTH THE PRICE THE COMES LATER THERE ARE A LOT OF US OUT HERE THAT ARE NOT ON THE ABC DRUGS FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER. WE STILL HAVE A LIFE. THEY ARE NOT SURE HOW MUCH THE DRUGS HELP. EVEN IF THEY COULD MEASURE I FEEL SURE THERE ARE SOME THAT GET A LOT OF BENIFIT AND OTHERS THAT DO NOT AND STILL OTHERS WHO ARE ALLERGIC LIKE ME. I GUESS WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY IS RELAX SOME LEARN A LOT AND LIVE LIFE IS GOOD FRIENDSHIP IS TRULY A RARE JEWEL TO BE TREASURED FOREVERMAKE EACH DAY A DAY TO REMEMBERLOVE AND HAPPINESS; BUTTERFLIES AND FLOWERSLYNN Newbie here Hi there. Guest guest
and Leisa, Thanks for the suggestions and references. I want to make sure I'm doing everything as close to " right " as I can. I do feel hungry in between my small meals, but I think that is because I was used to eating so much before that my body will need time to adjust. I will pick up Eating for Life when I can...I have found really good recipes on the BFL website. If I find myself getting hungry in between the meals, would it be ok to eat some veggies or do those count as carbs? Good grief...I think I am making this more complicated than it needs to be. I still am not quite sure what a " portion " means, though. I understand it when talking about a piece of meat or poultry, but does that mean like one piece of fruit or a cup of whole wheat pasta? Does portion mean the same thing as serving size? I will stick with the cardio in the mornings and do my weights when I get home after work or at whatever time on Saturdays. Two days down...gotta start somewhere! Mell
