Guest guest
Hi All~ I just joined this list today in hopes of getting some guidance as how to assist my husband to manage his Diabetes Type 2. He is taking oral meds and trying to control his BG levels and lately he has been having trouble doing so. His recent blood work is horrible and they're thinking of putting him on insulin. He doesn't want to but I'm not sure if he's ready to get out of denial and really get some control yet (he was diagnosed about 5 years ago). Now my question: He has been thru a few classes and met with dieticians and I thought he knew what he was doing in terms of diet - but it is obvious from the above that he isn't doing it - maybe because he doesn't understand. He thinks he's only to count carbs, but I believe he does need to do that, but also make sure that he balances every meal and snack across the food groups. IE- not just having a roll for breakfast, but having a roll, with a piece of cheese or breakfast meat, and maybe part of a fruit. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I'd love to see an actual diabetics diet plan - not just an exchange list or a listing of carbs to be counted, but an actual breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack detail. Thanks! _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
