Guest guest
Hello people, I just wanted to share with you that I am back following the BFL exercise program and hopefully I will be able to change my diet to follow the BFL diet in the book. My last post was in Jan 2008 about my diabetes. I am 48 years old with type 1 diabetes and coronary artery disease. For the past year my diabetes just went out of complete control. After switching doctors and then being sent to a Nephrology Clinic, things have really taken a change! I had many tests done and was taken off all oral meds and just taking insulin because my pancreas is no longer functioning. I have been placed on an insulin pump and the insulin pump therapy has made a 100% difference, along with the BFL exercise/weight lifting program. My doctor at the Nephrology clinic is amazed! My blood glucose is better than it has ever been in the past 25 years! I have gained quite a bit of weight over the past couple months but I have also been working out or doing cardio 6 days a week. The doctor says the weight gain is because of my blood glucose is running normal for the first time in many years. In the past, I followed the complete BFL program and just couldn't gain a thing. The doctor says that is because I would pee everything else instead of my body using it. I do want to follow the diet but at this time, the doctor doesn't want me to make any changes for a few weeks. With just doing the exercise schedule in the BFL book for 3 weeks, I have had people come up to me and ask me what I am doing and how these changes are happening so fast. I was told to kind of take it easy at first because the exercise causes changes in blood glucose and I am not experienced at making changes in the computer of the insulin pump I have attatched to me. Right now, I do check my blood glucose 3 times while I am at the gym working out to make sure I don't shoot too high and then not get enough insulin. This week I will be trained on the 24 hour glucose monitor that I will also be wearing that checks my blood glucose every 5 min and then will communicate with the insulin pump. It is really an exciting time in my life! For the first time in a couple years I feel 90% better and even though I have gained some weight, have 100% more energy to go work out. I do KNOW that the working out is really helping with my blood glucose because on day 7 when I don't do anything, my blood glucose raises, not as high as it use too but it still does go up. Oh also my blood pressure is 100% better in just these past 3 weeks than in the past year! With my body adjusting to normal blood sugars, it is so amazing the speed in which this exercise program is making even a visual difference. I even had one guy ask me if I was on steroids! I sure am thankful for the BFL book! It is great going to the gym and knowing a head of time exactly what I am going to do, a head of time. I did mention the BFL program to the guy who asked me if I was taking steroids. I am pretty much a creature of habit and love the schedule for each body area, cardio etc. Tom
