Andy: I basically had most of my fillings when I was sixteeen. I've only

had two more since then (very small ones). I would like to know if I

need be concerned about passing mercury onto future children given that

the fillings were done at least sixteen years ago? Thanks. Vicky

I doubt it. One can never be sure, and there are lots of other

sources of it, but this sounds like a low risk situation to me.

was 16!) and since then, I've been dx'd with fibromyalgia and have a

son with autism. I personally think my fillings have a lot to do

with it and am in the process of getting them all changed. According

to my husband, one of the EPA reports on mercury indicate that people

with amalgam fillings have 5 times as much mercury in their urine as

the population at large. It certainly bears

consideration.________________________________________________________

Andy, could you explain why/how you think this is low risk?

Would not cumulative mercury be MORE after 16 years?

Do you think the amalgam has stopped outgassing mercury?

Or, maybe the merc would not be passed to the baby for some reason?

thanks,

Moria

The mercury in her body - most of the total amount - should be gone by

now. Some will remain in her brain and perhaps liver, but not that

much. SHE may still have problems from it, but there might not be all

that much left to get into the baby.

There is always some risk. I don't know what it is in this case, but

it does seem much lower than someone who has fillings, or had them out

last year.

They do continually leak, but progressively less as time goes on.

I don't know. Probably.

-My fillings are also pretty old... my most recent ones (2) were put

in when I was pregnant for my autistic son and his twin sister, 10

years ago.

Does this mean that the mercury will leave the body, or does it

stay until I chelate. And if the mercury leaks out less and less, is

it safe for me to chelate myself, even if my fillings are still in

place???

I would love to detox myself, but don't want to cause any more

damage.... Lindy
