Guest guest Posted November 26, 2001 Report Share Posted November 26, 2001 We went to the local Autism Society's monthly pizza feed at a local pizza shop tonight. I have to break real quick here..., this is for you...Yes, a guy in Macon actually donates 10 percent of the receipts to autism research...very cool...way to go Macon... Okay, there's my Macon rah, rah... Anyway, I ate like a horse, Sam ate very little, Abbie ate nothing and Alec ate a piece or two of pizza and went to play video games. Sam played some too. Abbie saw a friend from school...Issac...who she hugged and kissed...A very loving Issac smiled and hugged back...very cool...until he's 10, then if he does it he's dog meat. Anyway, Sam is now enthralled with the Train stuff. Terry got him a track and some trains a few weeks ago. At the local and Noble, there is a full layout, trains, trusses, tunnels the whole works...real cool table to go with it....all for a very cool 779.00...I'll take 2...yeah right!!!! Give me a break. Anyway, I've been thinking about making Sam a table for his the Train set...I have the material...all we have to do is get the felt and some toy trees etc. Tonight, Sam looked at me very lovingly and asked, " Daddy? Will make Sams the Twain table pwease? " Holy railroad crossing Batman, how could I not. So, when we got home from the pizza parlor, I got out my stuff and made Sam a train table. As Terry said, " Please don't be disappointed if he's disappointed. He thinks he's getting the set from and Noble. " I hope I didn't start a tantrum...his train table is now complete...I finished at 10:30 tonight, with side rails and legs...I have to buy bigger legs down the road..it only stand 2 feet off the ground... Terry set up the train set and his Matchbox Fire station is in there too. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'll like it. Does noone in your chapter follow the GFCF diet? > > Jacquie Jacquie, We have a few families that follow the GFCF diet but the important thing is that we get 10% from EVERYONE who puts their receipt in a box on the counter - not just people from the autism society. So we can encourage friends, family, coworkers, etc. to go, plus we greet people at the door with info on autism and ask them to support us. Our funds are very low at the moment and this was the best fundraiser I could come up with :-). The kids seem to enjoy it because there is a big screen TV and games, plus it gives the parents an opportunity to talk and to observe other autistic children. Ron, Abbie seemed to have a good time talking to Lily last night! Thanks for the plug for Macon! As a native I can get sensitive!!! Would you build one?? Did you make the rolling bins for underneath too? I can assemble it if it's ready, I just can't manage all the preparations. I think maybe I will do the same. Is that half a carpet? If it's half a carpet you could get the one side bound at a carpet store for just a few $$ and have two different mats to put in there. You could also have the option of putting the mats on the floor to while useing the play table for legos or other small toys. You are a genius Ron!
