Guest guest
Hooray for Kenny : Kenny was pretty severe if I remember reading correctly... Sounds like he has come a long way thanks to your interventions... Chelation... It is so encouraging to hear how his ATEC scores have come down.. Pretty soon you'll be a zero.. Keep up the great work.. kelly
Guest guest
-- this IS great news. You also motivated me to fill out the ATEC (I know, should have done one last Feb when we started diet and supplements). I did one today and then filled it out remembering where she was a year ago. I'm glad I did it!. Her greatest improvement is in Sensory/Cognitive Awareness (24 to 17). Overall went from 67 to 55. I believe that the improvement in the sensory is a combination of clearing the candida and doing the detox. Her motor planning began to improve after doing a few rounds of detox. Thanks for encouraging me to be more data driven. I guess it's important to have this record (i'm really bad about this kind of stuff). Guest guest
, May I ask if you are doing any other interventions? Also, what is your child's weight and dosage? Our Dr is recommending 100 - 200 mg chemet (as tolerated) every 8 hours and 50 mg alpha lipoic acid with 2 of the doses. Also, how long have you been chelating. Do you see regression with chelation? I am getting ready to start chelating my 35 lb, 5 yr old son (he was born at 28 wks and had 5 or 6 vaccinations before he should have even been born). He has gone from 89 to 0 on the ATEC with diet, vitamins and AIT. He had his 1st round of AIT 1 year ago and second round 1 month ago. He started the diet last July. Austin's only issue now is a mild auditory processing concern. We did one round of chelation a few months ago. We pulled out some arsenic, antimony and tin -- not a lot. They found the bacteria klebziella in his stool so we cleared that up and his diarreha is finally gone. Also, congratulations on your success! Taking Sociability from 22 to 4 !!! That's is so wonderful!! Guest guest
CINDY Can't believe she broke your foot playing ring around the rosie.. I thought that was a pretty safe game.. Now you will have to chase kenny with a broken foot. I've been through that period of chasing and thankfully he is much more aware of danger.. Also answers me when I call him.. It wasn't like this before because he wandered off all alone and I had to call 911. Frightening, but it also made me realize that I could no longer ignore what was going on .. I had him evaluated and he was at that time severely affected.. My son is also scoring lower and lower. He too is on diet and have done 4 rounds .. I hope your writing that book.. We all have so many stories to tell.. kelly
Guest guest
Hooray for Kenny : Kenny was pretty severe if I remember reading correctly... ***** YES, he was very severely affected! We still have a long way to go, but this is extremely encouraging. It's easy to forget how much progress has occurred, especially as you begin to deal with new challenges. Right now, we are experiencing " running behaviors " for the first time ever. (And boy is he fast!) Unfortunately, he still doesn't understand the concept of DANGER! I have been pretty stressed the past week as he has run out into busy parking lots twice! The first time caught me completely by surprise. He walked out of the building after occupational therapy and usually he walks right to my van which is parked not 5 feet from the door and stands there waiting for me to let him in. This time he just took off without any warning. The following day I took him into a store to pick up something. I thought I was being smart and was not letting go of him, except that the moment I went to take my wallet out, he shot out the door. This is a kid who was SO TOTALLY compliant. He's been doing ABA since he was a little over two, and right from the start we did not tolerate any type of behaviors. Now, all of a sudden he realizes he's an independent little being. So, just a word of warning to others that you need to be watching out for this sort of thing. I'm not sure how I'm going to handle this now either, because on top of everything, I just found out that I apparently broke my foot yesterday! (One of Kenny's ABA therapists accidentally knocked me over and sat down hard on my foot when we were playing " ring around the rosie " !) Yet another chapter for my book .... ! I wonder if anybody would even believe what we go through for these kids! Guest guest
, May I ask if you are doing any other interventions? ********* We've been doing ABA since he was two. (He'll be 8 on May 26.) Last March I switched his home program from " traditional ABA " to " Verbal Behavior " . (Kind of " ABA-- the next generation " . If you want to know more about this, go to the website for our new school: www.rtphome.org/mariposa ) (We began chelation at the beginning of August, 2000.) We also do the GFCF diet, Feingold Diet and phenol-free diet. He was one of the original kids to get Secretin from Dr. Horvath. After 10 infusions, he lost ALL of his speech. It has taken a long time to get it back! We switched to transdermal gaspretin instead of secretin infusions which seems to be beneficial. We've been doing vitamin supplementation for years. *********************** Also, what is your child's weight and dosage? *************** Kenny now weighs 58 lbs. On phase one, he got 100mg of DMSA-SR every 8 hours. (That's the slow release.) On phase two we had finally settled on 50mg DMSA with 15mg ALA every 4 hours. Because of the problems with clostridia, staph aureus and candida albicans, we stopped the ALA while we have been trying to clear up the gut bugs. So we've gone back to the DMSA-SR dosing. ******************* Our Dr is recommending 100 - 200 mg chemet (as tolerated) every 8 hours and 50 mg alpha lipoic acid with 2 of the doses. Also, how long have you been chelating. Do you see regression with chelation? ******************* When we first started chelating he was a little more stimmy during the ON cycles. When we got to the third cycle, he seemed better and calmer on than off. We had seen regression in Phase II, but this is being attributed to the gut bugs. ***************** <snip> Also, congratulations on your success! Taking Sociability from 22 to 4 !!! That's is so wonderful!! **************** Thanks! I had felt that our biggest gains WERE in the area of sociability, but the numbers really made it quite clear. She was trying to make the game more " exciting " . ***** Now you will have to chase kenny with a broken foot. ***** Since I already know I can't even catch him with two good feet, this will be lots of fun! ***** (Cary, NC) persistentC@... http://www.rtphome.org/mariposa/
Guest guest
Dear EJPickwick@..., You might also want to read 's collected posts about Kenny. It is posted in the FILES section. It will tell you more detail about the question you asked about regression, for example. It covers 6 months.
