Guest guest
Dear , Ah yes, I am the Queen O'Drugs. I used to work in the Dept. of Pharmacology at UCLA so I even know how to MAKE many of the drugs on the basic science level. I do want to make a warning to you and anyone else on the list taking Solpadol which is basically Tylenol 3. Docs who don't deal with pain management frequently prescribe drugs that are narcotics + acetaminiphen i.e. paracetomol or Tylenol. What is forgotten is that Tylenol in large doses is TOXIC. If you take 8 extra strength Tylenol (500 mg each) you have reached toxicity! Because acetaminiphen is OTC, people don't take it's toxicity seriously but it can and will kill you as fast as any other poison. Patients with chronic pain issues should NOT be taking drugs that are in combination with Tylenol. Better to have your doc write a Rx for ANY narcotic on its own: methadone, oxycodone, morphine. Ironically, you are less likely accidentally to kill yourself with methadone tablets than with Tylenol 3 or Solpadol. I think that all patients in pain should hook up with a doc who is comfortable handling pain management and understands the basics. For instance, I've seen lots of patients only take pain pills when they " need " them. But by waiting until that point, the patient will need far more pain medication because the pain has become excrutiating. Pain meds should be taken on a SCHEDULE so that your pain never gets to that point. Most pain docs also prescribe a medication for break-through pain, something liquid so that it will work faster. It takes 30-45 minutes for a pill or capsule to break down in your stomach. Who wants to wait that long when in pain? I don't mean to lecture, but this is an important topic to me. I personally have an internal morphine pump that regulates my intake of morphine. Through it, I get 5 mg a day. If taken orally, I would need substantially more. All I'm saying is there's no reason to be in pain if you can help it. As for your other drugs, one is a proton-pump inhibitor to quell acid production in your stomach, the steroid we all know, and lastly the pain med. That's a very low level pain med. If it is not enough to cover your pain, call your doc; do not take more than 2 in a 4 hour period, okay? Hope this info is helpful.
Guest guest
Just want to reiterate that Tylenol is hazardous in high doses. I had accidentally ingested about 15g of Tylenol; way above the fatal dosage. I survived, obviously, but learned that there's a price to pay. > > Dear , > > Ah yes, I am the Queen O'Drugs. Guest guest
Sorry I didn't write this. This was from to . Don't know how my computer did this. But then I have Mac (given to me) and everyone else has a PC. I guess I must have hit a wrong key somewhere. Sorry about that ---- Lulu > > > > > > > > Dear , > > > > Ah yes, I am the Queen O'Drugs. Guest guest
: There are a plethera of medications out there. Unfortunately, many of them are anti-inflamatories. However, there are immune supressing meds, too. For me personally, the best combo has been Mobic (I realize you can't take that if you have a reaction to anti-inflamatories), methotrexate, and Kineret. I am currently on prednisone as well but am on a slow taper trying to get off of it. I know exactly how you feel about people not " seeing " anything wrong with you. The most irritating thing anyone ever told me was " Well, you look fine. " I thought, haven't you ever heard of the saying " looks can be deceiving " ....you idiot. Yes, I actually formed the thought that she was an idiot for saying that. Good luck! You best bet on the meds is to talk to your rhumetalogist. Guest guest
Hi I'm and new to this group. I was diagnosed with Lyme in Nov 08, but you know the story, I've been sick for a long time before finally finding out it is Lyme. I've followed some of the threads and have a question; Can you tell me why some are using iodine in a nebulizer? Is it for sinus infection? If so what are the measurements? I have a small, hand held nebulizer and have been fighting a sinus infection for 10 years. I would like to give it a try! Thanks!

Guest guest
I think Sovereign Silver brand makes a Collidial Silver nasal spray-- I'd check with Whole Foods, I think they carry it. Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group! There are alot of knowledgeable and caring people on here who can answer questions. My naturopathic doctors who specialize in lyme have me on 3 drops of a product called tri-quench, which says it is 19 mg of potassium iodine in each drop. I have also used a product before called lugols iodine which I believe has two types of iodine in it. The drops just go in with the tbsp. of water. I have lyme and the coinfections babesia and bartonella. I don't know all their reasons but I remember them saying that iodine can kills infections and because lyme loves to burrow deep in the tissues away from the bloodstream, this was a better way to reach more of it. Also, I think babesia gravitates to the lungs, and I think it has helped my breathing. They also have me on alot of herbal antimicrobials and other things as well. Thanks for asking Debbie New to this group Hi I'm and new to this group. Guest guest
Hi , Welcome, My Md has me doing nebulized Iodine. Here is info from Dr Klinghardt seminar that my doc gave me. Potassium Iodide (satutated solution of potassium Iodide SSKI) Start at 1000mcg even in young kids. (1/18th drop at least) Work up to 3 drops a day for (adults).(I started with 2 and it was to much as it wired me.) I backed down to 1/2 drop. Best if inhaled in nebulizer or vapoorizer. I am using a Nebulizer. Its Anti-microbial,anti yeast, normalizes breast tissue, helps the thyroid ......Inhalation has strong effect against Babesia, Bartonella & Lungworm ..... In creases body temp 7 decreases Microbial count. The metallic taste will resolve after a while(we think it is the body releasing metals) Tri Quench by Scientific Botanicals (it must be SSKI NOT Lugols) iodine solution) Biotics liquid Iodine is low dose option. My Doc gave me a script for SSKI it was around $14. He thought medicare would cover but it didn't. It is helping my sinuses, air hunger and clears my foggy brain quite a bit for, a while. Also give's me a bit of energy. Healing Blessings Joyce Please talk to your MD before doing this. Hi I'm and new to this group. Guest guest
Joyce I think I'll try this too. How much water do you use in your nebulize? Is it distilled?Years ago, when I was taking lugols drops, I think I built up to 8-10 drops per day (not sure 4 years ago). Anyway, my salivary glands started producing like crazy and aching, and I had a metalic taste - it was from too much iodine. I think this could be different than a brief metalic taste with nebulizing. So is Tri Quench different than SSKI? What strength (%) is yours? :-) Hi , Welcome, My Md has me doing nebulized Iodine. Guest guest
Here's an interesting comment regarding the two types of iodine (sounds like you may want both) ?:both Lugol's and Iodoral contain iodine (needed by your WHOLE body) and potassium Iodide (needed by your THYROID). So, you are basically supplying your body (even if you are taking the maximum suggested dose of Iodoral at 50 mgs (4 tablets) about 25 mg of Potassium Iodide for your thyroid. If you are deficient – at that dose it could take up to 6 months to notice any improvement. There is a product that you can get called TRI-QUENCH from Scientific Botanicals that contains only Potassium Iodide. 1 drop equals 19 mg. Also, what they don’t tell you is that Iodine and Potassium Iodide work much better when taken with LIQUID magnesium or LIQUID minerals and some sort of citric acid, apple cider vinegar, orange juice, grapefruit juice, cranberry juice, lemon water…. If you are going to use Lugol’s start out with a few drops and work up to half a dropper-full. Do this at night before bedtime to obtain the full benefit. It is very soothing to your adrenals and helps them heal as well. During the day, if my hands and feet are cold, I put 3 drops of SSKI in some distilled water that has also been dosed with liquid minerals. You will break out in bumps for the first month or so – at this dose your body will begin to expel bromine, fluoride, chlorine, and lots of other icky heavy metals (in addition to killing all sorts of parasites). Your poops will smell like you had sushi for dinner. If the breakouts are really bothersome decrease your dose and add something that has a lot of chlorophyll in it (chlorella, blue green algae, parsley juice or cilantro juice). If you Google any of the terms I have put in here you’ll see the research to substantiate what I’ve stated here.Any thoughts on this anyone? Hi , Welcome, My Md has me doing nebulized Iodine. Guest guest
Hi , I use reverse osmosis water 1 tsp. On my SSKI bottle it says 1 GM/ML Solution.I have no idea about Tri Quench. I would think it is the same as what I have but I would call the company and check with your doc. I have not had the metallic taste. It doe's seem to cause a herx but not sure as I have a lot going on. If its anti all that stuff I would assume it would. Main thing is to ramp up slow like everything and do not go over 3 drops. Guest guest
Hi , I am sure that I am overtreating and I have had so many problems with my adrenals crashing as well. I just feel really great so much of the time that I forget how delicate we all are. Even feeling great I still can produce an awful herx. I'm getting impatient with this disease.
