My doctor just started me on Elavil at night to prevent the headaches. He also

prescribed valium to take at night to help the anxiety and a 1/2 tab during the

day as needed. I take Frova to abort the migraines. Sometimes it works and

sometimes it doesn't. Have landed in ER four times within the last six weeks

with migraine that just wouldn't go away. Funny thing is that I have never

suffered from migraines until now at the age of 41.

Thanks for writing. How often do you get migraines? Do they go with your

monthly cycle?

I think that zoloft should help with anxiety attacks. The anxiety is

contributing to the migraines.

Hi ,

I don't know who you were responding to about migraines but since I get them

also I thought I'd send this along. I get migraines often. They seem to

run in cycles. Since I've had a hysterectomy I don't see them running that

way.

I haven't heard of the medication you take to stop the migraine and I

thought I'd heard of them all. There are times when I have to go to the ER

also

just to stop the pain cycle. When I do go they give me a shot of Demerol.

Before I go to that extreme I try my meds. I take Midrin first and if that

doesn't help then I go to the next one which is Relpax. I haven't been on this

too long but it generally will do the trick. The worst is when I wake up at 2

or 3 am with a blazing migraine. Then I know I'm in for a doozy. I use an

ice pac at the base of my neck and take the meds and hope for the best.

Thank you. I just went to the pain center yesterday at Tufts in Boston and the

doctors there don't think that I am having migraines. They think I am having

tension headaches brought on by tense muscles. Whatever they are, they sure can

be painful. These doctors told me not to take anything other than tylenol.

Sometimes this just doesn't cut it and if it doesn't I will haul myself right

down to the ER for whatever pain meds they can give me.

I do think that mine may go with my cycle. Last month the headaches were real

bad the week that I am off the birth control pill. This month they hit me at

the same time. Maybe better luck next month?

Thanks
