Guest guest
I am currently dealing with a bilateral ACL repair that is not going well. The abbreviated history is a 90lb LabX M/N that had Tight Rope surgery end of August to repair an ACL tear in the R leg. The rehab was not progressing and the rDVM (not the surgeon) felt there was some MLP complicating things. Before the dog could get to me the other knee went. On Oct 27th the dog went back to surgery had Tight rope done on the L stifle and the surgeon repaired the MPL on the R side (I can explain the repair if necessary but essentially he placed a a Mason leader line strategically to create some external rotation on the tibia to better align the joint} Things were going OK until the dog slipped the other day and the patella luxated twice on the last exam while doing ROM exercises but returned to position immediately and the dog is favoring the leg more. There is so much scar tissue and thickening in the R stifle it is difficult to assess any anatomical structures. The owner is in panic mode as she is not sure she can put this dog through any more. Any thoughts out there on whether there is any hope for this dog without more surgery??? At the time the dog was still not doing any exercises other then pROM and out to the bathroom 3-4 times daily as he was just starting to become weight bearing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
