Guest guest
Regarding Bracing, the elbow is very tough to brace because you cannot get a good hold above the elbow because of the adductors in the axilla. You have to go above and below the joint as far as you can to provide the best leverage to apply the corrective forces. A Chihuahua makes it even tougher. I would say no on the brace. A wrap the crosses the back to the other limb for suspension may add enough support for a dog this small. The Dog Leggs wrap is where I would look. http://www.dogleggs.com/adjustable/ Good luck! Guest guest
I have several patients with both elbow and shoulder subluxations in Dogleggs harnesses with good results. Often with small dogs I haven't had to order any additional support than the standard full Dogleggs and it is enough to keep them comfortable. I do usually get 2 soft straps - one for in front and one for behind the forelegs just because it keeps the harness in the correct position. I think the soft tissue support and positioning of those braces is frequently enough in small breeds. Hope that helps, Mindy DVM, CCRT Veterinary Wellness Ctr Lexington, KY Sent from my iPhone
