We use bromine and have minimal problems with human/dog skin. Reportedly chlorine caused a lot of irritation and rashes (to people) but that was before my time so I can't give you a direct comparison. A few owners think it affects their dog's skin or more often coat; those dogs we rinse off. My own dogs are in the pool every week and the only thing I see is that they smell like bromine (dissipates after a few days) and the border collie's coat gets very fluffy.

We currently have chlorine for our pool and underwater treadmill. Does anybody

know the comparison levels of inhibiting bacterial growth with chlorine vs

bromine? Also is there any bacteriostatic properties of saltwater and can it be

used in the underwater treadmill? We are thinking of changing and we want to

explore all of our options.
