Guest guest
Did anyone else catch the show on the Boston Marathon the other day on public television? It was really neat. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/marathon/ several people got together with the help of Nova and trained for the marathon. and all but a woman who's diabetes caused her to endure unhealable stress fractures made it through the finish line. It makes me wonder if doctors are stressing nutrition and exercise enough to type 1 patients. I know the body doesn't metabolize certain nutrients properly when you have type 1. My friend is on special vitamins balanced just for type 1 diabetes. I have a friend who's doctor was just horrible about advising him about his diabetes. When his doctor retired, he finally started getting some great advice about fitness and nutrition. I really feel for the woman who had to drop out of the race. She says she's doing great with her fitness, I sure hope the doctors found a way to get those stress fractures to heal. She's my age and it's scarey to think how young you can be when type 1 diabetes starts taking it's toll on your body. anyway, i thought the show was great. laurie
