Guest guest
Hi there! Yes I received your email OK. Haven't posted anything in a while because I was travelling around Europe for a month and before that I was on stage in a theatre production for six weeks! Busy? You bet. Fortunately I was bronc free all this time until.... now. I must have caught a cold or something when I returned to the USA and inevitably it has now travelled down to my lungs and I am once again feeling awful and coughing up phlegm by the gobs! So now I am back on antibiotics but hopefully this wont last long.... how are you these days? Janet in California > > I'm checking why I'm not receiving any mail. Guest guest
Wow, Janet, what an exciting time you had. Just thank God that you weren't sick then like you are now. At least you're home where you can get proper rest. I'm hearing of so many people that are sick right now. So far, thank God, I'm OK, but I'm trying so hard to avoid the sickies. Glad you " re back safe and sound and I hope you'll be feeling fine real soon. > >Reply-To: bronchiectasis >To: bronchiectasis >Subject: Re: need help >Date: Sun, 01 Jul 2007 14:54:53 -0000 > >Hi there! Guest guest
Hi Joy, Yes, I think we could be great friends. And guess what? My middle name is Joy. This has been a tough time, fortunately God is on my side too, as well as my family and sister who is four years older than me and in much better health, despite having open heart surgery five years ago. Until three years ago, I would rent a condo in Florida and drive down for the month of February. I had friends who stayed nearby and my sister would come for a week and another friend. That all seems so impossible now. I erven had to cancel a dental appointment for tomorrow because I feel so weak and shaky. I had an egg sandwich and some pomegranate juice for breakfast and I could hardly get it down. Cleaned the kitchen, fed puppy (my daughters) and am exhausted. I haven't been able to go to church for a couple of months and that used to be one my best things as well as a lot of volunteer work related to a group of artists from my church. I am a water color artist, but don't have the strength to do that anymore either. Just the basics with my home and grandchildren, which is quite a lot, but leaves little "me" time. Thank you so much for your thoughts. You are appreciated and considering all you have to cope with amazingly caring of others. MarilynWho's never won? Guest guest
Hi Joy, What is abx? Regards Beatrice Cook Sent by: bronchiectasis To bronchiectasis 02/02/2008 06:32 PM cc Subject Please respond to Re: Need Help bronchiectasis@yahoog roups.com Hi Joy! I have another disease too called Obliterative Bronchiolitis. That is why I take the antibiotic every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Have a great day! joy hensby wrote: , Marie, No, no-one should have to go through this.... , I don’t understand why abx 3xweekly, have not ever encountered that one (me, dx age 18, now 55 but coughed gunk since childhood). Also, pls check websites – what I have so far come across is that surgery itself is a cause of bronch – so how is it if you already have it? I don’t know myself of good results of surgery from people I know who have had... Anaesthetic itself is the hardest part of surgery for the lungs. Another thing to find out is, is your bronch very tightly localised. If not, the bronch will spread anyway, and be made worse because of the surgery. I don’t want to be a ‘damper’ but surgery is tough, if you’re healthy. If you have bronch – don’t go there! Marie, if you have infx, you do need abx. Not taking them means that the process of damage to the lungs continues. I know exactly what you are saying. I have been there – most of my life. I woke around 2am one night, coughing up heaps of bright blood. I had had a wracking cough for weeks, living on over-the-counter cough meds, until they just about made me throw up. I told myself it was just some throat lining torn from coughing – it was pneumonia +++. Then heavier than ever meds – Bactrim – 2 x 3/daily, and steroids which caused gut bleeding... Need I go on? I did all the alternative, natural therapies. I hated abx. And still do. Every inf is a toss-up, do I or don’t I? How long can I last? If I take abx, I risk fungal infx, if I don’t I risk more lung damage. I kind of sense something about the scar – I have mine, from a pedicle graft for cleft palate, but there’s an awful lot I don’t remember of childhood or adolescence. And neither do my family...Hmmm. Oi - between a rock and a hard place! Oh well, I could still dance till at least my 40s, I still have two arms, two legs (even tho sometimes they don’t feel capable of doing much), and can wipe my own arse! There are plenty enough people with illnesses and disabilities who can’t do that at least.... I know, doesn’t it suck when someone tells you there are people worse off - when you can’t breathe! You have something I did not have at 18 years old when diagnosed – you can get information. I had none, my family were hopeless – as were doctors. Research, research research – don’t get cut just because someone in a white coat says you should. They get paid big dollars and you have to live the results. PLEASE take time to consider before you decide. Just so you know I’m not some freak – I had more than 25 operations before I was 21 years old, and then several more – 2 to 3 hours each. Major surgery is classified according to the time you’re under anaesthetic, not the nature of the surgery itself. It is the anaesthetic which usually is why people die, or have complications, it is extremely hard on the lungs. I wish I could offer you a ‘way out’. I can’t, but only what I have learnt, much of the hard way, and too late sometimes (for me), joy Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now. Guest guest
Hi Mari, Do you know if you were in hospital, which hospital? If you can get that much info you may be able to access your records. Worth a try? Your health is your greatest asset and investment, to learn as much as you can gives you more control over how you are best able to manage your health – or illness. Guest guest
I need help understanding the sequence of antifungal, antiviral, chelation therapies. We've largely recoverd our son with 4 yrs of work with intensive diet, supplements, Nystatin, Methly B 12, lo dose DMSA, Hbot, cranial sacral, colon cleansing. But we are still having according to labs gut issues and yeast. My DAN reccomends Fluconzale and also Valtrex. I don't want to do both at the same time. But I'm open to insights. She also wants to wait to do IV chelation to work on gut more and feels that antifungal will help this. I'm not sure I agree. We've laid a good foundation and I'm not sure his gut will ever be good with the metal load. HHV-6 is chronic/active, yeasts, and chelation challenge reveal lead, mercury, aluminum more.... Our son functions well, pretend plays, language, seems almost NT, but behind. Not fully recovered, but we are so grateful for where he is. So I guess my fears are that by doing more interventions he could regress. Could we loose all that we've worked for. I'm scared to see that light in his eye disappear and I never want his language to stop as it did at 18 months. I'm really traumatized and having a hard time right now with wondering if I should proceed further. However I am not comfortable leaving metals and this chronic viral issue. I'm fearful and unsure of sequence. I wonder if there is a back side to valtrex. Could we further weaken immune system. I appreciate any insights. Guest guest
I might agree that a challenge test really isn't the way to find out body burden. As the heavy metals are embedded in brain; heart; kidneys; liver and bones; for example: it is really difficult to find out the actual body burden. That does not mean we are helpless. Just like when you find someone has been using your Visa Card without your permission: you don't need to find out who they are and wait till a court finds them guilty. Just complain to Visa and get the money back.So a challenge test is your Visa Insurance Policy $99 a year, if they still have the nerve to ask for it? Porphyrins are perhaps better...The challenge test will show if there are excess metals and which ones they are. A repeat metals challenge test will show how things are going. If we waited to get everything 100% right we'd die of old age before getting cured.well a challenge test really isn't the way to go to find out body burden, ANYONE doing a challege test is going to dump metals (as you are giveing a HIGH dose bolus of a chelator) and it also stirs metals up to DO a challenge, and they go where ever with out the follow up, which is why low and slow is the more recommended approach. if you know you have yeast valtrex is likly to flare yeast which is WHY the antifungal is recommend WITH It, and if you know you HAVE yeast I would treat it before looking at chelating as well and work on boneing up on minerials. fluconizole was one of our favoriate interventions with QUICK results. and really helped to heal the gut with getting it in control. up by you, miller drug has compounded it for us for really cheep, straigh fluconizole powder in a veggie cap. (and they mail it to you for 1 dollar) for metal testing you really want hairmetals and minerial levels (like through dr's data) and urine porphyrins to see what body burden IS, and what his body is able to out put as well as where minerials are BEFORE chelating. with doing a big challenge test and mercury showing up, you aren't likely to have TO much metals as that is one of the last to show up on testing when dumping metals. so I wouldn't panick to much, for AL, you can get rid of that naturally with mag and malic acid. hope some of that helpschristelRecovering from Autism is a marathonNOT a sprint, but FULLY possible!Read more about it on my BLOGs athttp://www.myspace.com/christelkinghttp://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwisheshttp://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677063169 need helpI need help understanding the sequence of antifungal, antiviral, chelation therapies. Guest guest
I didn't post enough about metals, we've done porphrins, have been lo dose oral chelating, checking hair, urine, stool. Mercury didn't show up on chelation challenge. Lead did. Doctor's Data hair/minerals before yes. My main question is that I'm fearful of doing Valtrex because I wonder if there is a back side. Can this further harm his immune system? Are kids regressing after using Valtrex? I'm considering doing naturals first and have started OLE. I have more clarity from your post about Valtrex kicking up yeast and having antifungal on board. However my next question is WHY does Valtrex affect yeast? I also understand your sequence of treatment ideas, thank you. I'm thankful for your time and experiences shared. > > > > > well a challenge test really isn't the way to go to find out body > > burden, ANYONE doing a challege test is going to dump metals (as you > > are giveing a HIGH dose bolus of a chelator) and it also stirs > > metals up to DO a challenge, and they go where ever with out the > > follow up, which is why low and slow is the more recommended approach. > > > > if you know you have yeast valtrex is likly to flare yeast which is > > WHY the antifungal is recommend WITH It, and if you know you HAVE > > yeast I would treat it before looking at chelating as well and work > > on boneing up on minerials. fluconizole was one of our favoriate > > interventions with QUICK results. and really helped to heal the gut > > with getting it in control. up by you, miller drug has compounded > > it for us for really cheep, straigh fluconizole powder in a veggie > > cap.
