Hi,

I just got these from http://www.got-autism.com/ETY-Plugs-Hi-Fidelity-Ear-Filters-Baby-Blues-p1167.html.

I have had them for a couple of days, and they cut the noise by maybe 5%. Enough to take the edge off, but not really to help the pain.

Has anyone else tried these or other ear filters (as opposed to ear plugs?)

Has anyone tried musician fitted ear plugs?

Also, does anyone on this list react with pain rather than with rage to sound? I am still trying to figure out my reactions. Deena Larsenhttp://www.deenalarsen.net

Yes, I had some muscians earplugs made up for me. I also had worked for an

audio company and had contacts at Knowles who were the makers of the actual

filter part of the plug. I emailed and they sent me additional filters to try.

They were basically just ear plugs and blocked all sound. I've actually had

pretty good luck with regular foam plugs because they tend to block out the

offending frequency band I have trouble with.

S sounds are the worst for me. I did an fft of what frequencies make up an s

sound and then created a notoch filter to remove that band on and audio track of

my ex wife reading a book. It was absolutely amazing at how well that took out

the trigger sounds for me. If I can figure out how to permanently remove that

frequency range from my hearing I would be happy.
