I tend to run a diet of minimal dairy, this comes easy as I don't like cheese and creamy milk. I tend to avoid red meats, though have very occasionally eaten it. I try to get my share of fish and oily fish, plus fruit and veg in abundance. It's the arachadonic acid that we have to avoid! I think the main thing is balance and to enjoy life. I'd rather have 18 months of good life than a year and a half of looking glum. So RJ why not have a monthly pizza or wait until your birthday and celebrate by sending for the Pizza dude? If you choose the latter I hope you have many more annual pizzzas to look forward to! Best wishes
Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for your reply. My problem is I like Pizza and sweets so much I have difficulty every day following the "everything in moderation" rule. But I agree with you---with emphasis on quality of life versus simply prolonging it and being glum about it. My wife and I will probably break the "no meat" rule on Thanksgiving Day and eat turkey along with everyone else (and I feel another pizza coming on after that!). But speaking of eating with some degree of caution, in what foods do you find the arachadonic acid that we are to avoid? Guest guest
RJ Others may add some but red meats are the main protagonists.
Guest guest
Snuffy said at a meeting that diet was a guideline not a religion. BTW dark chocolate is supposed to have something in it that is positive for Pca and a glass of red wine also has positive properties so it can be fun too. Kathy RE:Re: QOL v diet If you eat only the white meat you're probably OK with your Thanksgiving turkey FYI We found the book by Dr " Snuffy " Myers et al on " Eating your way to better health: the prostate forum nutrition guide " helpful in explaining how certain foods acted and in providing references (tel 1- for info) On Wed, 24 Nov 2004 15:53:52 -0600 " RJ " wrote:
