Hi and Janet.

Thanks , for that conversion table!! So that would make Janet's bg 150

to 180. Yes thats too high, but not unreasonable for a person just being

diagnosed! I'd say that at that level, Janet, you have excellent chances of

being able to control your diabetes with diet and exercise.

, I hope you don't mind if I post your table on my other diabetes

list?! :)

Hi Sharon, It is kind of hard to find someone who is type 1. Just about everyone is type 2. I was19 almost 20 when I found out. The reason you have more problems now is because you did not take good care then and also it has an accumulative effect. I believe it is like after 20 years it is the eyes then a couple years later it is the kidneys. Neuropathy kind of depends. But most stuff kind of sets in later. So keep taking good care and don't let the side effects get to you. I am also termed a brittle diabetic. After so long my doc says you get burned out and just to muddle through and you will get to the light at the other end. I burned out and am finding the light. What kind of problems are you having?

Debbie

Hi Debbie, I am Sharon and I have had Type I for 27 years also. I am having more problems now than when I didn't take such good care of myself. It seems to get harder every day. I am termed a brittle diabetic. I may not converse with the group a lot, but i read everybody's emails that are sent. Welcome and hope we can all help or learn from you. Sincerely, Sharon

Hi Kerry,

A brittle diabetic is one who's bg's can't be controlled. Most people find a regimen of diet, exercise and meds that keep things at an even keel. A brittle diabetic's bg's swing wildly with no apparent reason. They may eat the exact same thing, take the exact same insulin dose and do the exact same exercise but today their bg's may be fine, tomorrow it may go up to 700 or 800, then swoop down to 40. It's practically impossible to keep them in control.

Hi Sharon and Joan :)

I'm not a type I but can understand where you're coming from. Diabetes has so many quirks and seems to affect people in so many different ways, it can be confusing as to how to treat it. I hope you find some people you can connect with here, and some suggestions that are helpful to you. I don't agree with everyone here, but have found a lot of info that has been very good also. My feeling is that, with such a large group as we have here, there are several different levels. There are people who have their diabetes under great control, those who are having a lot of trouble and those in the middle who are in fair control but looking for better and/or newer ways to get things even better. We can learn from each other in many ways, and give each other support in times of stress.

It's always good to hear from others as to what their diet is and how it helps, What their exercise level is, what meds they're on and what kinds of side effects they experience, how they relate to their doctor, etc. Hopefully we can all find some kind of learning experience from the group as well as support.

Meenie :)

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome, a!

You are in the perfect place.

Here is the website:

http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/

As far as apple cider: Braggs unfiltered apple cider vinegar: great for pain.

Dose I use: one jigger to equal portion of water to cut the bite. You may chug

it or sip it. Two to three times a day, as pain subsides lessen dosage...one

each day.

This is a great site filled with many who are happy to share discoveries,

accomplishements, understanding, and tears as well as joys. Stay and visit a

while!

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this site and still don't know how to read the posts in some kind of

orderly fashion. I read about Bee's diet but can't seem to find I link to it,

also the apple cider vinegar.

I have been suffering with FM, CFS, Hypothyroid, Premature Menopause,

Osteopenia, Disc Herniation, Bursitis and the kitchen sink for a number of

years. I gave up smoking and drinking alcohol back in 2003 so food has been my

only vice, until 1 week ago. I began eating only natural foods that are gluten,

meat and dairy free and I think I am feeling better already. I really never

thought diet could be part of the reason I am so ill, but I think I am changing

my mind on that. Actually, I didn't wan't to have to give up any foods.

I discovered Almond-Milk to replace cow's milk and it's delicious. I haven't

found a replacement for cheese, which is my only craving. I eat alot of

mixed-greens, nuts and fruits, especially frozen blueberries for snack. My

problem is not knowing how to prepare certain foods, like eggplant for instance.

There are alot of choices at Whole Foods, but it's very expensive and

overwhelming to check all the labels.

I would really like to take a look at the diet you have been talking about

(Bee's) and try the apple cider. Can someone give me that info? Thank you for

your help, Sincerely, a
