Guest guest
Funny, Click and Clack are quoted on the back cover of "Annoying", Those cackling Tappet Brothers are SO annoying! :-DBut the book sounds intriguing, thanks. To: Soundsensitivity Sent: Wed, April 27, 2011 11:46:01 AMSubject: Link to Book Review: "Annoying" A friend forwarded me this review about a book titled "Annoying," and I just had to share it with you all. Joe Palca, a science writer for National Public Radio, and Flora Lichtman, an editor for NPR's Science Friday, collaborated on this book, a study of what factors make any number of things, people, and situations annoying. The review and book both focus extensively on sounds. You will feel more than a flash of recognition in the review, and, I wouldn't doubt, in the book itself, if you decide to read it. Please do check out the art on the cover! http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/26/health/26zuger.html?_r=2 & ref=healt "Annoying" isn't available at my public library yet, but I'm so curious I may spring for it on Amazon. There's an embedded link in the article to another piece about what makes hearing just one side of a conversation so distracting. Very interesting and worthy of extracting separately, methinks. Here 'tis: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/28/health/research/28perceptions.html Enjoy! Jay
Guest guest
I didn't catch that, but yeah, they DO have totally annoying cackles!! I don't run away when those guys come on the radio--sometimes I can enjoy the show--but more often, I can't take their laughter. Nice that others feel that way too. :-D Just realized that little clickable cartoon thing in the review isn't cover art for the book. Well, it should be! It is danged funny.
