Guest guest
CSH Selenium gives background support - don't expect miracles! Best wishes Re: selenium Went to Wal-Mart and bought a bottle of 200 mcg tablets of Selenium. Will take one with my next meal. Anybody taking Selenium? Had any positive results? Any side-effects? Guest guest
Most Pca suffers take various supplements and vitamins,e.g.,selenium,lycopene,vitamin E,vitamin C,folic acid, isoflavones, fish oils, vitamin D,calcium, magnesium;there are many others, few,if any, have noticeable side effects, unfortunately few,if any, notice any positive results !! Clutching at straws comes to mind, despite the various studies advocating them.I have not noticed any side effects with selenium, but if you live in an area where the selenium soil level is high,it is advisable to reduce the dose,by taking it on alternate days, as that is one supplement that is dangerous if the dose is exceeded too much. --- cshoward56 wrote: > > Went to Wal-Mart and bought a bottle of 200 mcg tablets of Selenium. > Will take one with my next meal. > > Anybody taking Selenium? Guest guest
Hi, You seem to miss the point regarding supplements. Your own body is its own doctor and in this day and age of chemical additives, removal of the beneficial parts of our food in the search for longer shelf life and cheaper production and toxic sprays we poison ourselves with virtually every mouthfull so our bodies need the various supplements just to counter this insideous invasion, consequently it is only in extreme situations that you are going to notice the beneficial effects. Guest guest
, for what it's worth, I've been taking 200 mcg 2X/day for 2 years with no side-effects. Studies indicate that one need to take about 1,000 mcg/day for side effects to appear. And there is no assurance that the food you eat comes from local markets, even if you live in a Selenium sufficient area. cam bishop Re: selenium ,Thanks for the comments about selenium. The tablet I have started taking is supposed to be about 225% of what I assume is the standard dosage (I don't have the bottle in front of me) plus I think selenium is in the multi-vitamin tablet I take every morning (the amount is probly 100% of the standard recommended dosage). But I would think overdosing on selenium (within limits) is probably no worse than taking a lot of the chemotherapy that is given for PCa.I will probably try a selenium tablet every day and see what the effect is.> __________________________________________________>
